5/22/72 <br />The following properties may be injuriously or beneficially affected <br />by such vacation: <br />Lots 136 and 135 and 134 in Plat of <br />Hastings, Woodward and Gray's Addition <br />Total net benefits $00.00 <br />Total net damages $00.00 <br />June 12, 1972 was set as the date for hearing all persons interested .in <br />or affected by such vacation:and these proceedings, and the Clerk°is <br />directed to give notice of such hearing by publication in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri County News on May 26, June 2 and June 9,:: 1972. <br />REPORT ON REQUEST FROM PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />A report from the Bureau of Traffic on the request of the South Bend <br />Public Library to re -locate its drop box for returned books was as <br />follows: <br />A request by the Public Library to locate a drop box for returned <br />books on Wayne Street was referred to this Department. <br />w <br />Approval is recommended with the stipulation that this box be <br />U located on the South side of the 100 block West Wayne Street at a <br />U point to be designated by the Traffic Engineer just west of the <br />alley intersection. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the above <br />recommendation of the Traffic Bureau. <br />APPROVAL OF SEWER PLANS FOR COLONY CLEANERS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the sewer plans and specifications <br />for the Colony Cleaners was approved by the Board. <br />REQUEST TO BUY PROPERTY OWNED BY CITY <br />A request from Solon Orfanos, 308 North Cushing Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, to buy a piece of property behind his property on the inner - <br />belt was referred to the Legal Department. <br />REQUEST TO RELEASE BOND - THEOPHIL MAEYENS DBA BUDS CONCRETE CONT. <br />A request from Henry E. Getz & Associates to release a sidewalk bond <br />for Theophil Maeyens dba Buds Concrete Contractor was referred to <br />the Engineering Department for investigation and report. <br />REQUEST TO RELEASE BOND FOR JAMES S. JACKSON CO.. INC. <br />A request from James S. Jackson Co., Inc. to release a bond for <br />installation of curb cut and existing curbs and walks on Greenlawn <br />Avenue was referred to the Engineering Department. <br />REPORT FROM TRAFFIC BUREAU ON MAKING WAYNE STREET ONE WAY <br />The following memo was received from the Traffic Bureau: <br />It is recommended that upon opening of the Jefferson Boulevard <br />Bridge and subsequent new street network that Wayne Street become a <br />one way street, WESTBOUND, from the intersection of Western to <br />William Street. <br />The expected volume of traffic and the low capacity of Wayne Street, <br />especially between Michigan and Lafayette, would result in congestion <br />function and confusion if it remained two-way. Since this one way <br />street is part of the over-all plan, it is warranted for implementation. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the above recommend- <br />ation was approved by the Board. <br />
