REPORT ON REQUEST FROM PUBLIC LIBRARY A report from the Bureau of Traffic on the request of the South Bend Public Library to re -locate its drop box for returned books was as follows: A request by the Public Library to locate a drop box for returned books on Wayne Street was referred to this Department. w Approval is recommended with the stipulation that this box be U located on the South side of the 100 block West Wayne Street at a U point to be designated by the Traffic Engineer just west of the alley intersection. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the above recommendation of the Traffic Bureau. APPROVAL OF SEWER PLANS FOR COLONY CLEANERS Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the sewer plans and specifications for the Colony Cleaners was approved by the Board. REQUEST TO BUY PROPERTY OWNED BY CITY A request from Solon Orfanos, 308 North Cushing Street, South Bend, Indiana, to buy a piece of property behind his property on the inner - belt was referred to the Legal Department. REQUEST TO RELEASE BOND - THEOPHIL MAEYENS DBA BUDS CONCRETE CONT. A request from Henry E. Getz & Associates to release a sidewalk bond for Theophil Maeyens dba Buds Concrete Contractor was referred to the Engineering Department for investigation and report. REQUEST TO RELEASE BOND FOR JAMES S. JACKSON CO.. INC. A request from James S. Jackson Co., Inc. to release a bond for installation of curb cut and existing curbs and walks on Greenlawn Avenue was referred to the Engineering Department. REPORT FROM TRAFFIC BUREAU ON MAKING WAYNE STREET ONE WAY The following memo was received from the Traffic Bureau: It is recommended that upon opening of the Jefferson Boulevard Bridge and subsequent new street network that Wayne Street become a one way street, WESTBOUND, from the intersection of Western to William Street. The expected volume of traffic and the low capacity of Wayne Street, especially between Michigan and Lafayette, would result in congestion function and confusion if it remained two-way. Since this one way street is part of the over-all plan, it is warranted for implementation. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the above recommend- ation was approved by the Board.
