316 <br />5/22/72 <br />REQUEST TO BARRICADE STREET FOR MEMORIAL MASS <br />A letter was received from Louis Pinter, Post Adjutant of American <br />Legion Post 272, 1712 South Taylor Street, asking for permission <br />to barricade Chapin Street from Calvert Street -north to Bruce Street <br />for a periof of one hour on Monday, May 29, 1972 at 9: 00 A.M. for <br />the purpose of holding a Memorial Mass. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the request was granted. <br />AREA P LAN :COMMISSION REPORT - ALLEY NORTH FROM DUNHAM STREET <br />A letter was received from the Area Plan Commission as follows: <br />May 19, 1972 <br />The Honorable Board of Public <br />Works and Safety, <br />South Bend, Indian <br />In Re: Petition of Ted Brzezniak, et al, to vacate the following: <br />the North -south alley running north from Dunham Street <br />alongside Lot I i:in Harris Addition, thence East and along <br />the rear of iotsl,2,3, and 4 all in Harris Addition to the <br />Ci:ty of South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />The attached alley vacation petition of Ted Brzezniak, et al, was <br />legally advertised and the Area Plan Commission gave it public <br />hearing May 16, 1972. <br />Following due consideration the Commission found the subject alley <br />vacation would cause difficulties in vehicular turning movements <br />resulting in unnexeccary nuisance and inconvenience to residents <br />along Dunham Street. <br />Very truly yours, <br />HB/ld s/ Howard Bellinger, Executive Director <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board accepted the <br />recommendation of the Area Plan Commission and denied the petition <br />of Ted Brzezniak, et al to vacate the north -south alley running north <br />from Dunham Street alongside Lot 1 in Harris Addition, thence East and <br />along the rear of lots 1, 2, 3, and 4 all in Harris Addition to the <br />City of South Bend. <br />ASSESSMENT ROLL FILED - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3358,1972 <br />William J. Richardson, City Engineer, files with the Board the assess- <br />ment roll, showing the award of damages and the assessment of benefits <br />in Vacation Resolution No. 3358,1972 for the vacation of: <br />A -part of the first North -South alley West of <br />Ironwood Drive, running South 133.45 feet <br />from the South right of way line of the Grand <br />Trunk Railroad <br />Reserving the rights and easements of all Utilities and the Municipal <br />City of South Bend, Indiana to construct and maintain any facilities, <br />including but not limited to the following: electric, telephone, gas, <br />water, sewer, surface water control structures and ditches, within <br />the vacated right of way, unless such rights are released by the <br />individual Utilities. <br />1 <br />
