316 5/22/72 REQUEST TO BARRICADE STREET FOR MEMORIAL MASS A letter was received from Louis Pinter, Post Adjutant of American Legion Post 272, 1712 South Taylor Street, asking for permission to barricade Chapin Street from Calvert Street -north to Bruce Street for a periof of one hour on Monday, May 29, 1972 at 9: 00 A.M. for the purpose of holding a Memorial Mass. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was granted. AREA P LAN :COMMISSION REPORT - ALLEY NORTH FROM DUNHAM STREET A letter was received from the Area Plan Commission as follows: May 19, 1972 The Honorable Board of Public Works and Safety, South Bend, Indian In Re: Petition of Ted Brzezniak, et al, to vacate the following: the North -south alley running north from Dunham Street alongside Lot I i:in Harris Addition, thence East and along the rear of iotsl,2,3, and 4 all in Harris Addition to the Ci:ty of South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: The attached alley vacation petition of Ted Brzezniak, et al, was legally advertised and the Area Plan Commission gave it public hearing May 16, 1972. Following due consideration the Commission found the subject alley vacation would cause difficulties in vehicular turning movements resulting in unnexeccary nuisance and inconvenience to residents along Dunham Street. Richardson, City Engineer, files with the Board the assess- ment roll, showing the award of damages and the assessment of benefits in Vacation Resolution No. 3358,1972 for the vacation of: A -part of the first North -South alley West of Ironwood Drive, running South 133.45 feet from the South right of way line of the Grand Trunk Railroad Reserving the rights and easements of all Utilities and the Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana to construct and maintain any facilities, including but not limited to the following: electric, telephone, gas, water, sewer, surface water control structures and ditches, within the vacated right of way, unless such rights are released by the individual Utilities. 1
