318 <br />5/22/72 <br />COMPREHENSIVE SURVEY OF ALL RAILROAD CROSSINGS FILED <br />The City Engineer now files a comprehensive survey of all railroad <br />crossings in the city, and informed the Board that letters have been <br />written to Railroad Division engineers requesting that action be <br />taken to correct deficiencies. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board ordered the survey <br />filed. <br />REQUEST FROM SCHILLINGS RE: PARKING METERS <br />A letter dated May 10, 1972 from Schilling's Sales and Service Company, <br />329 South Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana was received. They <br />request a change of parking meters #23,25,27 and 29 in front of their <br />place of business from one hour meters to 12 minute meters for the <br />convenience of their customers. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, this was referred to the <br />Engineering Department for investigation and report. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD RELEGIOUS MEETINGS BEREAN SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH <br />A request from Roy Bellinger, Jr., Pastor of the Berean Seventh Day <br />Adventist Church to hold services in a tent at the corner of Keasey <br />Street and Carroll Street for a period of eight weeks. The Legal <br />Department said they approved the request provided the tent is inspected <br />by the Fire Department, and the Pastor gets permission from the owner <br />of the land to hold the meetings. <br />REQUEST TO RELEASE BOND - SAM DOI <br />A request to release a Contractor's Bond for Sam Doi was referred to <br />the Engineering Department. The Engineer now states there is no <br />objection ;to the bond being cancelled, thereupon the Board, upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, directed the bond be released. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4- 5/22/72 <br />WHEREAS, The Board of Public Works and Safety, has found it necessary <br />in the best interest of the public safety and welfare to <br />construct certain street improvements in Main Street between <br />Chippewa Avenue and Bronson Street and in Chippewa Avenue <br />between Main Street and Michigan Street, all in the City <br />of South Bend, Indiana, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend has entered into an agreement with <br />the Federal Highway Administration to reconstruct the <br />automatic electric traffic control] system along said <br />streets, and <br />WHEREAS, the improvements to the aforesaid streets are compatible <br />with the Urvan Area Transportation Study, and <br />WHEREAS, the costs for these certain improvements are to be prorated <br />at 25% to the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund and 75% <br />to the local Roads and Streets Account, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety has the authority to <br />make such improvements as provided by the General Assembly, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works and Safety orders <br />
