314 <br />5/22/72 <br />Buildingers United Enterprises stopped construction on several units <br />after the excavations had begun, reason not known. This office re- <br />quested Builders United Enterprises, Inc., to fill the excavation, <br />see attached letter. <br />Builders United Enterprises, Inc. have not complied. <br />in the meantime, the City obtained a deed to the property. Upon com- <br />plaint of Councilman Parent, Mr. Howell ;was contacted by this Depart- <br />ment. He said he was awaiting conveyance of ownership as he wants to <br />to build. He said the Legal Department was working on same. He was <br />requested to protect the excavation by fencing same. West, Building Commissioner <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board ordered the letter <br />filed, but asked that a memorandum be sent to Mr. West asking whether <br />the excavations mentioned in his letter had been fi Vfed in, and if a <br />building permit had been issued on the Cedar Street address-, and if so, <br />what the status of it is now. - <br />The Board, upon motion made, seconded and carried, requested that the <br />Clerk direct a letter to the Park Department asking them to remove a <br />large dead tree`,from the property at 1134 Cedar Street as it is 1n.a, <br />dangerous condition. <br />A letter was received from Mr. John J. Lorber, as Attorney for Builders <br />United Enterprises, Inc., asking about the purchase of Lot 29 of Sommers <br />Addition. The clerk was directed to write Mr. Lorber telling him <br />the property was in the process of being declared excess and when the <br />process is completed, his client would have the opportunity to bid on <br />it. <br />1225 Bissell Street <br />A letter was received from Builders United Enterprises, Inc., asking <br />to hold the demolition bid on the structure at 1225 Bissell Street as <br />they wished to buy the property. This was referred to Mr. Liszewski <br />for investigation and answer. <br />SOLLITT CONSTRUCTION COMPANY INVOICE - WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT <br />An invoice from the Sollitt Construction Company, Inc., in the amount of <br />$272,363.62 for labor, `material and equipment furnished to complete the <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant Addition was approved. <br />CLYDE E, WILLIAMS AND ASSOCIATES. INC. UNDERPASS ON SOUTH MAIN STREET <br />An invoice for preparing plans and specifications and cost estimates <br />on the proposed improvements to the existing underpass on South Main <br />Street was referred -to the Engineering Department. Amount $17,142.82. <br />CLYDE E. WILLIAMS AND ASSOCIATES. INC. - WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT <br />An invoice from Clyde E. Williams and Associates, Inc., for providing <br />general supervision of the construction of the Wastewater Treatment <br />Plant in the amount of $3,497.72 was approved. <br />LETTER FROM MRS. ROGER SMITH <br />A letter was received from Mrs. Roger Smith, 3505 Rexford Drive, South Bend <br />complaining about the condition of her property after the D & D Developers <br />has used an easement. The Board informed Mrs. Smith, who was present, that <br />this was a matter between the Developer and her and they could not enter <br />into it. <br />L <br />
