St. Joseph Street MachinerySupply Company $850.00 B'& J Demolition 1,070.00 O'Neal Trucking Company 749.00 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, -the bid was awarded to O'Neal Trucking on its low bid of $749.00. 1805 East Ewing Mr. Liszewski reported he had investigated the above address and found the premises, which had been secured until recently, look as though some one has been working there to clean it up. Mr. Liszewski was instructed to see if he can determine the owners and ask them to rehabilitate the structure. RANDOLPH STREET AREA Mr. David Wells, Assistant City Engineer, reported Mr. Vanatk is proceeding with the clean up of the Randolph Street area, and he would recommend honoring his contract as soon as the work is com- pleted. LETTER FROM COUNCILMAN ROGER PARENT' The following letter was received from Councilman Roger Parent: May 15, 1972 Mr. Charles Sweeney, Chairman Board of Public Works and Safety South Bend, Indiana Dear Mr. Sweeney: Residents have complained about the unsafe conditions caused by an excavation on the southwest corner of Arthur and Cedar Streets. Construction of a house was started on said lot about one year ago and only the footing for the foundation has been finished. in preparing the land to build the house, the major roots of a large tree were severed. The tree is now dead and seems ready to topple, on the house next door. Additionally, the excavation itself and the debris on the lot and the sidewalk are safety hazards. r iJ I �1 L
