304 , 5/15/72 SIDEWALKS ON IRONWOOD AVENUE A large group of persons appeared before the Board to discuss pro and con the installation of sidewalks on three blocks of North Ironwood Drive. Mrs. Joseph Csiszar, 124 North Tuxedo Drive, on behalf of the South Bend Community School' P.T.A., again stressed the impor- tance of sidewalks for the many school children using Ironwood. Mr. Wilfred Mayette, Attorney, representing the John Heisler family , 725 North Ironwood, spoke on the matter and asked that the Board adopt a resolution pursuant to the statutes on the matter of sidewalks. Councilman Roger Parent asked about a petition which was filed in 1971 asking for sidewalks to be installed. Mr. Richardson said the time had probably run out on it. Mrs. Rocco Papandria, 609 North Ironwood Drive, said everyone walks on her lawn, and have never been told to stay off. Mr. Peter George, 714 North Ironwood Drive, said he has raised U five sons at that address. There are many places in South Bend that do not have sidewalks, why should this Board be concerned about the few people who walk that short distance, instead of being concerned about all the people. Mrs. Clement Zebrowski, 722 North Ironwood, said she is interested only in the safety of the children. After some discussion, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred the matter to the City Engineer for the preparation of plans and costs of Barrett Law Proceedings for sidewalks on Ironwood Drive. Mr. Edward Krol, 737 North Ironwood; Mrs.Leo Zmudzinski, 615 Northwood Drive and David Block, 733 North Ironwood Drive also spoke. A letter was received from the St. Anthony Home and Schooi Association, signed by John T. Leader, Prestdent, stating they were in favor of putting in sidewalks between Bader Street and Rockne Drive. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARDS DIVISION Mr. Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. This being the date set the following bids for demolition were opened: Non -collusion affidavits were found to be in proper order. 614 South Rush Street B & J Demolition $800.00 Midwest Demolition 829.00 O'Neal Trucking Co. 749.00 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bid was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company on its low bid of $749.00 4620 Sibley Street B & J Demolition $550.00 Machinery Supply 850.00 O'Neal Trucking Co. 500.00 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bid was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company on its low bid of $500.00.
