3 0-0, <br />5/15/72 <br />FIREFIGHTERS TO CONVENTIONS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the -Board accepted the <br />recommendation of Chief Bland and granted permission for various <br />firefighters to attend several conventions, as follows: <br />May 23-24 Professional Firefighters of Indiana <br />at Indianapolis, Indiana <br />Carl Zwierzynski <br />Joseph Vargyas <br />Joe Pajakowski <br />Keith Kramer <br />July 28-30 Indiana Firefighters Association at <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Carl Zwierzynski <br />August 14-18 international Association of Firefighters <br />at Los Angeles, California <br />Carl Zwierzynski <br />Joseph Vargyas <br />June 7-9 Indiana State AFL-CIO at Indianapolis, <br />Indiana <br />Carl Zwierzynski <br />John Fezy <br />Frank Gion <br />It is understood there will be -no expense to the city at the <br />attendance of any of these firefighters. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: <br />Chief Seals was present at the meeting and matters pertaining to <br />his department were discussed. <br />The following applications for -the South Bend Police Department <br />were filed and ordered sent to the Personnel Department: <br />Loren P. Eck Michael C. Grant <br />Martin Thomas Kelly <br />PERMISSION TO HOLD BICYCLE AUCTION <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Chief was granted per- <br />mission to hold the annual bicycle auction and to auction the accum- <br />ulation of miscellaneous property now held by the Police Department, <br />the date being May 26, 1972 at 1:00 P.M. <br />PATROLWOMEN C. MILLER AND V. TAYLOR TO SEMINAR <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />granted the request of the Chief to permit Patrolwomen C. Miller <br />and V. Taylor to the International Association of Women Police <br />Officers Seminar -to be held at Palos Hills, Illinois on May 22- <br />and 23, 1972. <br />There will be no cost to the City. <br />DETECTIVE SERGEANT CLOYD COFFMAN TO IDENTI-KIT TRAINING -CLASS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board approved the recomm- <br />endation of Chief Seals to send Detective Sergeant Cloyd Coffman <br />to the Identi-kit Training Class to be held at the Indiana Central <br />College in Indianapolis May 16 through 18, 1972. <br />SPECIAL POLtCE COMMISSION DENIED - JOSEPH L. SCHUBERT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board denied the application <br />of Joseph L. Schubert for a Special Police Commission as recommended <br />by the Legal Department, as it not being necessary for his type of work. <br />1 <br />L <br />E <br />
