296 <br />5/8/12 <br />WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEPARTMENT <br />Mr. Bert Cichowtcz, City Sealer, appeared before the Board and presented <br />his monthly report. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the report <br />was ordered filed, and Mr. Cichowicz was commended upon his fine report <br />and the fact that South Bend was selected as the site of the 60th Annual <br />Conference of Indiana Inspectors of Weights and Measures, April 25-27, <br />1973 and the fact that he was elected President of the organization for <br />the 1972-1973 term. <br />LETTER FROM JOHN DREW TRULAND - PARK AVENUE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION <br />Mr. John Drew Truland appeared before=the Board and presented the <br />following letter: <br />723 Park Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />May 0, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />On June 28, 1971, the Park Avenue Neighborhood Association presented <br />the Board of Public Works and Safety with a statement requesting the <br />Board's cooperation in keeping PANA informed of gevernmental plans <br />affecting the PANA neighborhood, and re questing the opp'lortunity <br />ato meet with appropriate officials for planning and informational <br />purposes whenever any major plans are to be considered. <br />Since the City government and the composition of the Board have both <br />changed since that time, and in view of the recent communications mix- <br />up concerning the Portage Avenue widening project, we wish to reiterate <br />that request today. <br />We are more firmly convinced than ever of the desire and need to <br />preserve and restore inner-city neighborhoods. We believe our neigh- <br />borhood is doing a good job and is setting a fine example through its <br />own activities. We hope that with your cooperation we may v.i-.ew the <br />future with optimism. <br />Yours sincerely, <br />s/ John Drew Truland <br />for the Park Avenue <br />neighbo:r'hood Association <br />The Board thanked Mr. Truland for appearing and said they would be <br />happy to cooperate. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request <br />of the Traffic Division to install 2 parking meters on the east side of <br />the 200 block of North Michigan Street between Colfax and LaSalle. <br />CONTRACTOR'S BONDS <br />Contractor's bonds were aporoved and ordered filed for: <br />Andrew Murdock to 5/8/73 <br />Bud's Concrete Contractor to 4/27/73 <br />A Mond for Sam Doi was ordered sent back to the Insurance.Company for <br />updating the power of.attorney, and the release for a former bond was <br />referred to the Engineering Department for checking. <br />REQUEST OF BEREAN SEVENTH -DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH TO ERECT A TENT <br />1 <br />1 <br />Reverend Roy Bellinger, Jr. appeared before the Board and presented the <br />following letter: <br />
