296 5/8/12 WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEPARTMENT Mr. Bert Cichowtcz, City Sealer, appeared before the Board and presented his monthly report. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the report was ordered filed, and Mr. Cichowicz was commended upon his fine report and the fact that South Bend was selected as the site of the 60th Annual Conference of Indiana Inspectors of Weights and Measures, April 25-27, 1973 and the fact that he was elected President of the organization for the 1972-1973 term. LETTER FROM JOHN DREW TRULAND - PARK AVENUE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION Mr. John Drew Truland appeared before=the Board and presented the following letter: 723 Park Avenue South Bend, Indiana May 0, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety County City Building South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: On June 28, 1971, the Park Avenue Neighborhood Association presented the Board of Public Works and Safety with a statement requesting the Board's cooperation in keeping PANA informed of gevernmental plans affecting the PANA neighborhood, and re questing the opp'lortunity ato meet with appropriate officials for planning and informational purposes whenever any major plans are to be considered. Since the City government and the composition of the Board have both changed since that time, and in view of the recent communications mix- up concerning the Portage Avenue widening project, we wish to reiterate that request today. We are more firmly convinced than ever of the desire and need to preserve and restore inner-city neighborhoods. We believe our neigh- borhood is doing a good job and is setting a fine example through its own activities. We hope that with your cooperation we may v.i-.ew the future with optimism. TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of the Traffic Division to install 2 parking meters on the east side of the 200 block of North Michigan Street between Colfax and LaSalle. CONTRACTOR'S BONDS Contractor's bonds were aporoved and ordered filed for: Andrew Murdock to 5/8/73 Bud's Concrete Contractor to 4/27/73 A Mond for Sam Doi was ordered sent back to the Insurance.Company for updating the power of.attorney, and the release for a former bond was referred to the Engineering Department for checking.
