I°294 <br />5/8/72 <br />LETTER FROM EMPLOYEES SAFETY DIRECTOR <br />A letter was received from Mr. Paul Gervas, Employees Safety Director, <br />concerning a directive -he wishes to send out to all departments. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the directive <br />and instructed him to contact all departments of the city. <br />WALK FOR DEVELOPMENT <br />A memo was received from the Traffic Department stating they had no <br />objections to the walk for development as outlined, excepting the <br />route would have to be changed in the down town area, from Jefferson <br />to Colfax as the Jefferson Street bridge is closed. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the request for a walk was granted and the <br />clerk was directed to write to Mr. Richard Baer, Coordinator, so inform- <br />ing him. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD MEMORIAL DAY PARADE: <br />A letter was received from James A. Nicks, Assistant Parade Marshall, <br />outlining the route for the Memorial Day Parade and also a formal <br />request to hold the parade. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the 'request and directed the clerk to send the <br />route to the Traffic Division and the Police and Street Departments. <br />LETTER FROM REV. BRINKLEY COLLIER <br />.The followingietter was received: <br />May 3, 1972 <br />South Bend Department of Public Works <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />Dear Sirs: <br />In the past you have granted me permission to conduct religious <br />services in -the city of South Bend, at certain locations. I <br />would like to take this opportunity to thank you for those opportunities <br />to try to help give hope to those whom we may not be able to reach <br />in the regular church services. <br />Since I feel that these services, held on street corners, have been <br />a success in the past, I am requesting permission to hold them again <br />this summer, beginning possible towards the end of this month.
