2771 <br />4/24/72 <br />1216 Whitman Court <br />Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that.although contract for the demoli- <br />tion of this structure was awarded to Vanek Excavating Company on <br />January 3, 1972, the building still stands and no°demolition work has <br />been performed. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board a- <br />warded the contract for the demolition of this structure to the next - <br />lowest bidder, O'Neal Trucking Company, for the sum of $535.00. <br />706 S. Fellows Street <br />This matter having been continued from 4/17/72 due to a tie bid, it was <br />again brought up at this meeting. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the bid was awarded to the Machinery Supply Company in the amount of <br />$375.00. <br />672 LaPorte Avenue <br />Mr. Raymond C. Davis, owner of the structure at 672 LaPorte Avenue, hav- <br />ing received a letter to come before the Board on May 1, 1972 to show <br />cause why demolition should not take' place, appeared at this time and <br />e—� the Board heard -his evidence. Mr. Davis advised the Board that he was <br />in the process of obtaining an FHA-237 loan on this property, to enable <br />w him to demolish this house and construct another one. He asked the <br />Board for a continuance on this matter vased on these facts. This mat- <br />ter, therefore, was continued until June 5, 1972, providing that Mr. <br />Davis immediately board up and secure the building. <br />229-245 North Boulevard De La Paix>; <br />Mr. Liszewski called the Board's attention to the fact that this apart- <br />ment building suffered a severe fire more than one year ago, and de- <br />spite orders from the Board of Public Works and Safety and letters from <br />the Building Department, it remains in an unsafe, unsightly and hazard- <br />ous condition. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards <br />Division was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of this apart-w <br />ment building, said bids to be taken on May 8, 1972. <br />Properties Located in the Randolph -Sampson Storm Water Basin Area <br />William J. Richardson, City Engineer, advised the Board that on November <br />22, 1971, Vanek Excavating Company was awarded a contract to demolish <br />six structures in the Randolph -Sampson Storm Water Basin Area. The <br />addresses of these properties are as follows: <br />1817 Randolph Street <br />1801 Randolph Street <br />1806 Randolph Street <br />1816.Randolph Street <br />1818 Randolph Street <br />1814 Sampson Street <br />Mr. Richardson advised the Board that some of these properties have been <br />demolished but their debris and salvage remain at the site. Others <br />have not yet been demolished and are standing open. Mr. Vanek has not <br />been paid for this work. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, it was decided that <br />the Sub -Standards Division would advertise for bids for the remaining <br />demolition and clean-up work that needs to be done in this area. These <br />bids will be taken on May 8, 1972, and the properties are to°be bid as <br />a package and not individually. <br />REQUEST OF HAL SMITH AND MARY ANN WRIGHT TO USE STONE AMPH*THEATER AT <br />SOUTH END OF FRANCES STREET AND ST. JOSEPH RIVER FOR WEDDING <br />This matter having been continued from 4/17/72 to allow the Legal Depart- <br />ment to research the City Ordinance, it is now moved, seconded and car- <br />ried to approve the request of Hal Smith and Mary Ann Wright to hold <br />their marriage ceremony at the stone amphatheater at the south end of <br />Frances Street and the St. Joseph River at 10:00 A.M. on June 10, 1972 <br />
