Seals <br />Chief of Police <br />upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the above recommen- <br />dation for the promotion of Sergeant Niedbaiski to Captain was approved. <br />PROMOTION OF CORPORAL>WILLI S SHOEMAKER - TO SERGEANT <br />The following letter was presented: <br />March 21, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />City of South Bend <br />County City Building <br />ed1 South Bend, Indiana <br />r! <br />Gentlemen: <br />It is respectfully recommended that Corporal Willis Shoemaker be promoted <br />to the rank of Sergeant technician and assigned to the photographic dark- <br />room as a laboratory technician, effective on date of April 1, 1972. <br />Corporal Sheomaker, appointed to the police department on date of March <br />1, 1953, has spent many of his years of service assigned as a technician <br />in the above area and his assisngment therein will facilitate the easing <br />of a shortage of trained technicians created by recent realignments and <br />assisgnments to make available for street date More youthful technician* <br />personnel. Currently assigned to the Desk area as an N.C.i.C. operator, <br />Shoemaker's transfer as cited above will not retract any effort to <br />increase street -assigned manpower. <br />The promotion and assignment herein recommended will create a realistic <br />In-depth availability of techbician personnel already trained and make <br />the tast of training a replacement for Corporal Shoemaker as he nears <br />retirement eligibility. <br />Your approval of that recommended above is most sincerely solicitated. <br />Respectfully yours. <br />s/ Robert W. Decker Taffie Mallard <br />Archie Henderson Gloria Mae Filley <br />Christy Tirotta Richard Louis Handley <br />Anthony Kovateh Robert Francis Hambright <br />Taffie Mallard already holds a Special Police Commission for work at <br />the South Bend Housing Corporation, but is requesting that it be <br />enlarged so that he might work at the S. S. Kresge store. <br />
