1246' March 27, 1972 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, March 27, 1972. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and reviewed. FIRE DEPARTMENT Chief Bland was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. A lease between the City of South Bend and A.C.T.I.O.N. was, upon motion made, seconded and carried, approved for Lots #61 and 62 [n bubaii's Second Addition to the City of South Bend, more commonly known as the old #10 Fire Station, 1820 South Michigan Street. for $4,800.00 in the form of an in -kind credit to the Lesser's share of local government's contribution to the support of the local anti -poverty program. APPLICATIONS FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT Applications for the Fire Department were ordered filed and sent to the Personnel Office for the following: Anthony Lee Boldini Daniel R. Lower Michael Daniel Bella Bruce Michael. McCartney James Terence Brien Louis.Ray Parmelee ill Philip E. Bujekbr Richard J. Pishnoff John F. Evans Thomas Lee'Underiy' Richard L. Heidrich Paul B. Voorde Charles B. Henderson Harold F. Wilk1son, Jr. Paul Leon Lochmondy POLICE DEPARTMENT Chief Seals appeared before the Board and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. SERGEANT D. NEIDBALSKI - PROMOTION TO CAPTAIN The following letter was presented: March 21, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety City of South Bend County City Building South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: it is most respectfully recommended that Sergeant D. Niedtlalski, currently assigned to school education, working with elementary student levels in the field of safety and appointed to the Police Department on date of October 1, 1932 be promoted to the rank of Captain in the same field of assignment he currently enjoys. The recommended promotion has been so made in recognition of the outstanding devotion to duty and to the children of our community displayed by Sergeant Niedbalski in his current assignment and it is requested that such recognition be read into the minutes of the meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety as a Rutherance of the appreciation of Sergeant Niedbaiski's efforts expressed to this office by so many citizens, teachers and students of South Benda This recommendation in no way is intended to assert the institution of the rank of Captain becoming a regularly complemented fact in the area of future assignment of personnel to this area of police labor but rather, as a signal of our appreciation of a job well done by Sergeant Niedbalski.
