1246' <br />March 27, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened <br />at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, March 27, 1972. All members were present. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and reviewed. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Bland was present and matters pertaining to his department <br />were discussed. <br />A lease between the City of South Bend and A.C.T.I.O.N. was, <br />upon motion made, seconded and carried, approved for Lots #61 and <br />62 [n bubaii's Second Addition to the City of South Bend, more <br />commonly known as the old #10 Fire Station, 1820 South Michigan <br />Street. for $4,800.00 in the form of an in -kind credit to the <br />Lesser's share of local government's contribution to the support <br />of the local anti -poverty program. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Applications for the Fire Department were ordered filed and sent <br />to the Personnel Office for the following: <br />Anthony Lee Boldini <br />Daniel R. Lower <br />Michael Daniel Bella <br />Bruce Michael. McCartney <br />James Terence Brien <br />Louis.Ray Parmelee ill <br />Philip E. Bujekbr <br />Richard J. Pishnoff <br />John F. Evans <br />Thomas Lee'Underiy' <br />Richard L. Heidrich <br />Paul B. Voorde <br />Charles B. Henderson <br />Harold F. Wilk1son, Jr. <br />Paul Leon Lochmondy <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Seals appeared before the Board and matters pertaining to <br />his department were discussed. <br />SERGEANT D. NEIDBALSKI - PROMOTION TO CAPTAIN <br />The following letter was presented: <br />March 21, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />City of South Bend <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />it is most respectfully recommended that Sergeant D. Niedtlalski, <br />currently assigned to school education, working with elementary <br />student levels in the field of safety and appointed to the Police <br />Department on date of October 1, 1932 be promoted to the rank of <br />Captain in the same field of assignment he currently enjoys. <br />The recommended promotion has been so made in recognition of the <br />outstanding devotion to duty and to the children of our community <br />displayed by Sergeant Niedbalski in his current assignment and it <br />is requested that such recognition be read into the minutes of the <br />meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety as a Rutherance of the <br />appreciation of Sergeant Niedbaiski's efforts expressed to this <br />office by so many citizens, teachers and students of South Benda <br />This recommendation in no way is intended to assert the institution <br />of the rank of Captain becoming a regularly complemented fact in <br />the area of future assignment of personnel to this area of police <br />labor but rather, as a signal of our appreciation of a job well done <br />by Sergeant Niedbalski. <br />
