2/28/72 <br />Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />approved the Chief's recommendation and instructed the Chief to <br />put the ambulance crew on a 56-hour work week. <br />WILLIAM C. SHAFFER - MILITARY LEAVE <br />The following letter was presented: <br />February 28, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />13th floor County -City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />RE; Firefighter William C. Shaffer <br />Honorable Board Members: <br />It is respectfully requested of this Board to grant a two -week leave <br />of absence to the above mentioned firefighter for the purpose of <br />military duty commencing on the 26th day of March, 1972. <br />Attached hereto please find a copy of trining orders for Private <br />Shaffer. <br />I trust that this meets with your approval. <br />Very truly yours, <br />SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />s/ Jack R. Bland, Fire Chief <br />JRB/ss <br />attachments <br />Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />approved the request of the Chief to permit William Shaffer to attend <br />military duty. <br />REPORT OF SICK TIME OVER THIRTY DAYS - RICHARD LENTZ <br />Chief Bland reported that Richard Lentz had been off duty since <br />January 15, 1972 when he injured his ankle. His Doctor recommends <br />that he not return to work until March 13, 1972. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board approved an extension of sick leave <br />for Richard Lentz. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following letter was received from the PoliceChief: <br />February 28, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building <br />227 West Jefferson <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Due to a change in personal plans, Cadet Catherine E. Hall has <br />submitted her resignation from the Cadet Program. <br />I recommend that her resignation be accepted by the Board to <br />become effective February 29, 1972. <br />RWS:msg <br />Sincerely, <br />s/ Robert W. Seals <br />Chief of Police <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board approved the <br />recommendation of Chief Seals and accepted the resignation of <br />Cadet Catherine E. Hall. <br />
