2/28/72 Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Chief's recommendation and instructed the Chief to put the ambulance crew on a 56-hour work week. WILLIAM C. SHAFFER - MILITARY LEAVE The following letter was presented: February 28, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety 13th floor County -City Building South Bend, Indiana 46601 RE; Firefighter William C. Shaffer Honorable Board Members: It is respectfully requested of this Board to grant a two -week leave of absence to the above mentioned firefighter for the purpose of military duty commencing on the 26th day of March, 1972. Bland, Fire Chief JRB/ss attachments Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request of the Chief to permit William Shaffer to attend military duty. REPORT OF SICK TIME OVER THIRTY DAYS - RICHARD LENTZ Chief Bland reported that Richard Lentz had been off duty since January 15, 1972 when he injured his ankle. His Doctor recommends that he not return to work until March 13, 1972. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved an extension of sick leave for Richard Lentz. POLICE DEPARTMENT The following letter was received from the PoliceChief: February 28, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety County City Building 227 West Jefferson South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: Due to a change in personal plans, Cadet Catherine E. Hall has submitted her resignation from the Cadet Program. I recommend that her resignation be accepted by the Board to become effective February 29, 1972. RWS:msg Sincerely, s/ Robert W.
