1/3/72 <br />COMPLAINT - AMY KEKKO - Damaged curb <br />The following report was filed with the Board: <br />In the opinion of the undersigned, it would not be proper for the City to <br />make a payment to a private property owner for damage to a curb.. The curb is <br />public property. The City does have the same obligation to keep the curb in <br />repair as ;it does the street, however. <br />(s) S. J. Crumpacker <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Legal Department is instructed to <br />write to Mrs. Kekko informing herof the opinion given by Mr. Crumpacker, in <br />which Mr. Sweeney concurred, and denying her request. <br />REQUEST - GEORGE RANKEL <br />The following report was filed with the Board: <br />In the opinion of the undersigned, the Board of Public Works and Safety does <br />not have the authority to grant any exceptions to zoning laws, rules and reg- <br />ulations. <br />(s) S. Crumpacker <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Legal Department is instructed to <br />write to Mr. Rankel that his request is denied. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND MEETING, PROVIDENCE, R.I. <br />A request from Forrest West, Building Commissioner, for permission to attend <br />the Building Officials and Code Administrations International meeting in Prov- <br />idence, R.I., having been deferred to this date, upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, permission was granted. <br />Area Plan Recommendation - Department,of Redevelopment <br />Area Plan Commission files with the Board its favarable recommendation for <br />the vacation of Lincolnway East from 55 feet south of Jefferson to St. Joseph <br />Street; East Jefferson Street from St. Joseph to the curve on Jefferson -Wayne <br />connector; East Washington Street from St. Joseph to Artesian Avenue; Artesian <br />Avenue from East Washington to the southerly end of Artesian Avenue as petitioned <br />for by the Redevelopment Department. The City Engineer is directed to prepare <br />a vacation resolution. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - MASTIC CORPORATION <br />Area Plan Commission files with the Board its favorable recommendation for <br />the vacation of a portion of Kaley Street for Mastic Corporation. The City <br />Engineer is directed to prepare a vacation resolution. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - HANSEL NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICE CENTER <br />Area Plan Commission files with the Board its favorable recommendation;for <br />the vacation of an alley between Linden and Orange Streets. The City Engineer <br />is directed to prepare a vacation resolution. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT <br />Area Plan Commission files with the Board its favarable recommendation for <br />the vacation of Monroe Street from the East Line of Rush Street extended to the <br />North Line of Monroe Street, east to the west Line of Lincoln Way East for the <br />Department of Redevelopment. The City Engineer is directed to prepare a <br />vacation resolution. <br />
