<br />COMMUNICATION _-RESOLUTION NO. 3348. 1971 FOR THE OPENING OF NORTH SHORE DRIVE
<br />A letter from Penn Central Company, by C. E. Defendorf, Chief Engineer,
<br />1600 S. Lumber Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60616, objecting to the extension of
<br />North Shore Drive across the St. Joseph Valley Railroad (Michigan Central Rail-
<br />road) was read and ordered filed.
<br />PERFORMANCE BOND FILED - POLK COURT PAVING
<br />Rieth Riley Construction Company, Inc. files with the Board its performance
<br />bond and certificate of insurance in the matter of the paving of Polk Court,
<br />from Colfax Avenue to Columbus Street.

<br />A letter from Penn Central Company, by C. R. Spence, Division Superintendent,

<br />close Vernon- and Caroline Streets, was read and ordered filed.
<br />CHANGE ORDER - WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT ADDITION
<br />Being duly advised, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the
<br />Board approved the following Change Order No. 1 to Sollitt Construction Company,
<br />Inc., 301 Columbia Street, South Bend, Indiana, for the Wastewater Treatment
<br />Plant Addition:
<br />1. Furnish and install 14 #118 flanged and lever operated plug
<br />valves on the discharge line of the dewatering pumps @
<br />$333.95 each-----------------------------------------------$4,675.30
<br />2. Furnish and install 14 Fairbanks -Morse airline depth indi-
<br />cators, each with 100 feet of nylon tubing @ $144.90 each --- $2,028.60
<br />at an increased price of--------------------$6,703.90
<br />WATER MAIN EASEMENT - GRANT HOLLADAY CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved and
<br />signed an agreement between the City of South Bend and Grant -Holladay
<br />Construction Corporation for temporary easements for water mains at Portage
<br />Place, between Portage Road, Bendix Drive and the Toll Road.
<br />TOPICS PROGRAM - UTILITY AGREEMENTS
<br />Utility agreements under the TOPICS program were approved and signed by the
<br />Board for the improvement of McKinley Avenue, from Manchester Drive to Logan
<br />Street, and for the improvement of Logan Street and Hickory Road south and
<br />north of McKinley Avenue, as shown on plans for ISHC Project T-6000 (7), as
<br />follows:
<br />Indiana Bell Telephone Company - telephone lines and cables
<br />South Bend Water Works - water lines
<br />Indiana and Michigan Electric Company - electric lines
<br />Northern Indiana Public Service Company - gas lines
<br />PETITION TO PAVE HUEY STREET DENIED - LEHMAN HAYNES
<br />Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, recommends the petition of Leyman Haynes
<br />and others filed with the Board June 23, 1969, to pave Huey Street, from
<br />Longley Street to Roger Street, be denied. This street may be paved under
<br />the Model Cities Program in the future and no present action is wished to be
<br />taken by the petitioners.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the recommendation of the
<br />City Engineer was approved and the petition denied.
<br />PETITION TO PAVE GERTRUDE STREET DENIED - G. FRED DITTMAN
<br />Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, recommends the petition of G. Fred Dittman
<br />filed with the Board February 8, 1971, to pave Gertrude Street, from Ewing
<br />Avenue to Donald Street, be denied. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously
<br />carried, the recommendation of the City Engineer was approved and the petition
<br />denied.
