94 <br />9/27/71 <br />REQUEST FOR SIDEWALK - COQUILLARD SCHOOL <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Iva] F. Newhard, <br />Principal, Coquillard School, 1245 N. Sheridan Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />46628, for extension of the sidewalk on the east side of Sheridan Sheridan <br />from St. Johns Way north to Lincolnway, was referred to the City Controller <br />to determine if funds are available for the construction of the sidewalk. <br />REQUEST TO OPERATE PARKING LOT - RICHARD D. ORVIS <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that the request of Richard D. Orvis <br />to operate a public parking lot at 322 N. Main Street be referred to the <br />Building Department for appropriate action. <br />REQUEST TO PARK SCHOOL BUSSES DURING "SPACE FAIR" <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request made <br />by John R. Kagel, Executive Director, Downtown South Bend Council, 320 W. <br />Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, for permission to park school <br />busses at Central Junior High School: on the north side of Washington, <br />between Lafayette Boulevard and Williams Street; on the east side of <br />Williams Street, between Washington and Colfax Avenues; and on the south <br />side of Colfax Avenue between Williams Street and Lafayette Boulevard during <br />the "Space Fair" to be held from October 4 to October 22, 1971.. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - MICH'IGAN STATE UNIVERSITY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and.carried, the Board granted permission for the <br />Michigan State University Band to march around the block preceding_a concert <br />in front of the County Courthouse on Main Street at approximately 9:15 A.M. <br />on October 2, 1971, going east on Jefferson, north on Michigan, west on <br />Washington and south on Main to the courthouse, as requested by John R. Kagel, <br />Executive Director of the Downtown South Bend Council. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - JOHN ADAMS HIGH SCHOOL <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />J. L. Thompson on behalf of River Park Business Men's Association, P. 0. <br />Box 2005, South Bend, Indiana, 46615, for the John Adams Football parade <br />October 8, 1971, at approximately 4:30 P.M., starting at 35th Street and <br />Mishawaka Avenue, traveling west on Mishawaka Avenue to Twyckenham Drive, <br />north to Wall Street, east to Potowatomie Park, and granted permission for a <br />police escort, on condition that the City be provided with evidence of proper <br />insurance to hold the City harmless. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD MOTORCADE - UNITED WAY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />Michael P. Toal, Public Relations Associate, United Way, 120 S. Taylor Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, for a motorcade consisting of five vehicles on September <br />30, 1971, in connection with the "kick-off" of the United Way campaign, said <br />motorcade commencing at about 4:00 P.M. at the Notre Dame Athletic and Convo- <br />cation Center, traveling south on Michigan Street to the St. Joseph Bank <br />plaza and returning to the Convocation Center north on Michigan Street, on <br />condition that the City be provided with evidence of proper insurance to hold <br />the City harmless. <br />REQUEST TO BLOCK JEFFERSON BOULEVARD <br />Pursuant to the request of R. D. Schosker for 0. J. Shoemaker, Inc., 1008 <br />Lincolnway East, South Bend, Indiana, 46624, upon the recommendation of the <br />Traffic Engineering Department, the Board approved the closing of E. Jefferson <br />Boulevard between Michigan and St, Joseph Streets, on Sunday, September 26, <br />1971 between the hours of 11:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., during the placing of <br />heavy air conditioning equipment on the roof of the Sherland Building, and is <br />hereby made of record. <br />STREET LIGHT REQUEST - GREENLAWN AVENUE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Herman Light, 468 Green - <br />lawn Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, and others for two street lights on Greenlawn <br />was referred to the Traffic Engineering Department for study and recommendation. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
