7 ) <br />9/7/71 <br />SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS APPOINTED <br />Upon motions made, seconded and unanimously carried, the following special <br />police officers were appointed, with the express proviso that the authority <br />to carry a gun and to exercise police powers is limited to the premises of <br />the employer: <br />Pasco Fleming - employed by Consolidated Negro Contractors, Inc. <br />Edward Mosley - employed by the South Bend Housing Authority, <br />William 1. Dreibelbis - employed by the South Bend Tribune. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB-STANDARDSDIVISION <br />Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and <br />the following matters were taken up. <br />1519 W. Poland Street. Stanley and Joseph Gregorowicz, representing the <br />estate of Mary Gregorowicz, deceased, appeared before the Board and stated <br />they are willing for the City to demolish the house. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized <br />1%44 to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 1519 W. Poland Street. <br />tl� 539 S. Fellows Street. Charles Stoddard appeared as requested and stated <br />w he will board up the property for the present. Upon motion made, seconded <br />U and unanimously carried, the matter of 539 S. Fellows Street was continued <br />two weeks to permit the owner to board up the structure. <br />910 S. Columbia Street. Mrs. Harold C. Personette did not appear as requested <br />but telephoned she is working and her husband is out of town, and that they <br />are willing for the City to demolish the house. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids <br />for the demolition of the structure at 910 S. Columbia Street. <br />1540 W. <br />from the <br />Dunham Street. Neither Frank nor Lillie B. <br />National Bank and Trust Company appeared <br />Binion nor a representative <br />as requested. Mr. <br />Liszewski <br />stated he has heard nothing from the owners <br />of the property and <br />that it <br />is in a bad condition. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously <br />carried, <br />the Sub -Standards Director was authorized <br />to seek bids for demolition <br />of the structure <br />at 1540 W. Dunham Street. <br />315 Parkovash Street. Attorney George Stratigos appeared before the Board <br />and stated he has not yet been able to contact the owner, Henry Hoover; that <br />they want to bring up the appearance of the property so that the people in <br />the neighborhood will have no objection and would like to have the month of <br />September to get something accomplished. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the matter pertaining to 315 Parkovash was continued to October 4, <br />1971. <br />806 S. Rush Street. Mr. Liszewski reported the owner has advised him he is <br />willing for the City to take the property. Upon motion made; seconded and <br />unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids <br />for demolition of the structure at 806 S. Rush Street. <br />Demolition bids opened <br />This being the date set, bids for demolition of the structure at 1314 W. <br />Jefferson Avenue were opened. Non collusion affidavits were found to be <br />proper. The bids were as follows: <br />O'Neal Trucking Company $429;00 <br />Midwest Demolition Company $643.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for demolition <br />of the structure at 1314 W. Jefferson Boulevard was awarded to O'Neal Trucking <br />Company on its low bid of $429.00. <br />WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEPARTMENT <br />The report of the City Sealer for August, 1971, was reviewed and ordered <br />f i led. <br />
