Schmidt in the sum of <br />Three Hundred Fourteen and 16/100 ($314.16) Dollars for the purchase <br />of the following described real estate in St.Joseph County, State <br />of'.Indiana, to -wit: <br />A part of Lot 4 in Mary Witherill's Subdivision of Bank <br />Out Lot 32 described as follows: Beginning at the north- <br />west corner of Lot 4; thence east 28.50 feet along the <br />north line of said Lot 4; thence southwesterly 43.60 feet <br />along a line with a deflection angle of 96 degrees 37 minutes <br />40 seconds right from the last described course extended; <br />thence southwesterly 156.30 feet along an arc to the right <br />having a radius of 909.93 feet and subtended by a long chord <br />having a length of 156.03 feet with a deflection angle of 1 <br />degree ,06 minutes 24 seconds right from the last'.-.described <br />course extended to a point on the south line of Lot 4; thence <br />west 0.37 feet along the south line of Lot 4 to the southwest <br />corner of said Lot 4; thence north 198.00 feet along the west <br />line of Lot 4 to the point of beginning, containing 3,272 <br />square feet, more or less. <br />" Upon receipt of payment of said purchase price by the Board <br />of Public Works and Safety, a warranty deed conveying said real estate <br />is now directed to be prepared and submitted to the Mayor and Clerk for <br />execution and delivery to said purchaser. <br />"Adopted this 19th day of July, 1971. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />s/ Lloyd S. Bickel <br />ATTEST: <br />s/ Doris Allen <br />Clerk of the Board." <br />CHARLES HOWELL (UNITED BUILDERS) - CONTRACTOR'S PERMIT REVOKED <br />Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, reported that the Engineering Department had <br />requested Charles Howell, of United Builders, to pay the City of South Bend <br />for repairing a street which they broke up, and which the City finally re- <br />paired. That the originat> request was $1163.58. That finally Charles Howell <br />agreed to pay $750.00 which the City agreed to accept, but that it has never <br />been paid. That at another site Mr. Howell failed to barricade the street <br />and place flares and that the City Street Department barricaded the street and <br />placed flares, for which the Street Department makes a charge of $50.00; and <br />that this amount also has not been paid. That the firm has done work at 16 locations <br />without taking out a permit for construction and at 12 locations has done <br />work not according to the standards of the City. That for these reasons the <br />Engineering Department requests, and Mr. Taylor so moved, that no further <br />permits be issued to Charles Howell or United Builders until all standards are <br />complied with and these bills paid. The motion was seconded and unanimously <br />carried. <br />MRS. IRENE MUTZL AND MRS. LEE SWAN <br />Mrs. Irene Mutzl, 320 Parkovash Street, and Mrs. Lee Swan, 2022 Swygart Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, who attended the meeting, questioned the code enforcement <br />program and the inspection of private dwellings by the Sub -Standards Department, <br />and explanation was made by the Board members and the Sub -Standards Director. <br />PROPOSAL TO APPRAISE REAL ESTATE - DAVIS REALTY <br />RANDOLPH AND SAMPSON STREET RETENTION BASIN <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />proposal of Davis Realty, 717 Lincolnway East, South Bend, Indiana, to appraise <br />real estate for the Randolph and Sampson Street retention basin on an hourly <br />basis at the rate of $10.00 per hour for actual time spent in handling the <br />alipraisals. <br />
