136 <br />7/19/71 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND CONVENTION <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Fire Chief Joseph <br />L. Zurat for Fireman Robert N. DeGraff to attend the Firefighters Association <br />convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, August 6, 7 and 8, 1971, was approved. <br />Mr. Crumpacker abstained from voting. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - PROMOTION KEITH LEWIS CRAMER <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />promotion of fireman, Keith Lewis Cramer to the rank of lieutenant, effective <br />July 19, 1971, upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT MILITARY DUTY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the Board approved the <br />request of Chief of Police Loren M. Nybo <br />- July <br />17 <br />to <br />July <br />31, <br />1971 <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />The application of Thomas Defreese Gooley for appointment to the South Bend <br />Police Department was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel <br />Director for further processing. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER <br />Action on the application of William 1. Dreibelbis for appointment as a <br />special police. officer was deferred, awaiting further information concerning <br />his duties with the South Bend Tribune. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSIONS DENIED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board denied <br />commissions as special police officers to Stanley M. Kaniecki and Albert W. <br />Wright, employed by Globe Security, Inc., *waowvcwAX)pcxK wrA* at Robert Hall <br />Clothing Store, for the reason that such commissions seem not warranted, <br />subject, however, to review in the event evidence is provided to warrant <br />the issuance of special police commissions. <br />STATISTICAL REPORTS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Statistical reports for June, 1971, were reviewed and ordered filed, for the <br />Police Department. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION <br />This being the date set, bids for demolition of the structure at 512 S. Taylor <br />Street were opened. Non collusion affidavits were examined and found to be <br />proper. The bids were as follows: <br />O'Neal Trucking Company $520.00 <br />Midwest Demolition Corporation $532.00 <br />Bryant Excavating Company $625.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for demolition of <br />the structure -at 512 S. Taylor Street was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company <br />on its low bid of $520.00. <br />Request to appear before the Board August 2, 1971 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of the <br />Sub -Standards Director for the following persons to appear before the Board <br />1 <br />1 <br />
