<br />It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried by the Board that the Indiana
<br />Criminal Justice Agency be permitted to place a law student intern with the
<br />Police Department for the months of June, July and August, 1971, with the
<br />approval of the Police Department.
<br />REQUEST OF A.C.T.I.O.N., INC. TO USE FIRE STATION #10
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Paul L. Cornell,
<br />Executive Director of A.C.T.I.O.N., Inc., 1040 Lincolnway East, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, to use the building known as Fire Station #10, located at 1820 S.
<br />Michigan Street, for expansion of their offices, was taken under advisement
<br />by the Board.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - WESTMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, permission was granted to the West-
<br />minster Presbyterian Church, 621 Lindsey Street, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />hold a parade, or march, on Sunday, June 27, 19.71, between the hours of
<br />9:45 A.M. and 11:15 A.M., at which time the members will travel in a
<br />procession from 621 Lindsey Street to their new location at the corner of
<br />Cleveland and Lilac Roads. Mr. Crumpacker abstained from voting.
<br />REQUEST TO BLOCK ALLEY FOR FISH FRY - APOSTOLIC TEMPLE CHURCH, INC.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded, and carried, the Board approved the request of
<br />the Apostolic Temple Church, 2221 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Indiana, by
<br />A. R. Madlem, Financial Secretary, to close the alley next to the church
<br />building on July 31, 1971, for its fish fry between the hours of 4:00 P.M.
<br />and 8:00 P.M.
<br />REQUEST TO BLOCK MANITOU PLACE FOR BLOCK PARTY - CHARLES H. VEEN
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of
<br />Charles H. Veen, 803 Park Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, and other residents
<br />of the block, to block Manitou Place on Thursday evening, June 3, 1971, be-
<br />tween the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M., for a block party.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD TENT MEETINGS - HOLINESS CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Rev. Henry Underwood,
<br />242 N. Sadie Street, South Bend, Indiana, for the Holiness Church of God
<br />in Christ to conduct tent meetings adjacent to 242 N. Sadie Street, was
<br />referred to the Building Department for review and recommendation.
<br />INDIANA BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY CONSTRUCTION SITE - ALLEY CLOSING APPROVED
<br />Thomas Hickey and attorney Charles Boynton appeared before the Board on be-
<br />half of Hickey Construction Company in reference- to closing the alleys at
<br />the construction site of the new Indiana Bell Telephone Company building
<br />on South Main Street.
<br />Hickey Construction Company submits its indemnification agreement and
<br />states verbally that it is their interpretation of the indemnification
<br />agreement they have submitted that it would require them to defend any
<br />action which might be brought against the City because of the alley closings
<br />which they request and to pay any judgment or court costs that might
<br />be entered against the City in such an action.
<br />Upon the basis of this understanding and the indemnification agreement being
<br />filed, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the request of
<br />Hickey Construction Company for the closing of the alley south of Lot 273 in
<br />the original plat of the City of South Bend be approved.
<br />It was further moved, seconded and carried that the placing of the footings
<br />for the addition to the Indiana Bell Telephone Company Building at a depth
<br />of not less than 14 feet beneath the alley surface in the lot on the south
<br />side of Lot 273 be approved.
<br />REQUEST FOR RESCUE SQUAD - I.U.S.B. BOAT RACES 6/6/71
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of
<br />the Indiana University Student Foundation, 1825 Northside Boulevard, South
<br />Bend, Indiana, for permission to have available a rescue squad from the Fire Department
<br />during its boat races June 6, 1971*
