I <br />6/1/71 <br />"RESOLUTION NO. 6-1-71 <br />"WHEREAS, the application by the City of South Bend for <br />the State and Federal grant under P.L. 660 for the proposed <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant Additions, Division A, has been <br />approved by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and the <br />Indiana Stream Pollution Control Board, and <br />"WHEREAS, the construction plans and specifications have <br />been approved by the Indiana State Board'of Health, and <br />"WHEREAS, the bids for the construction of the Wastewater <br />Treatment Plant Additions, Division A, have been received on <br />May 24, 1971, by the City of South Bend, <br />"BE IT RESOLVED, That Sollitt Construction Company, Inc., <br />the lowest bidder, be tentatively awarded the contract in <br />the amount of $6,540,000.00 based on "A" alternates for the <br />said construction, subject to the following stipulations: <br />1. Successful bond sale. <br />2. Concurrence by the United States Environmental <br />UProtection Agency. <br />U <br />3. The tentative contract award of $6,540,000.00 <br />based on bid submitted on May 24, 1971, be subject <br />to revisions based on the selection of other alternates <br />before signing the firm contract." <br />BOMB PROCEDURES FOR THE COUNTY -CITY BUILDING <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, bomb procedures for the County <br />City Building as promulgated by the Board of County Commissioners were <br />adopted, and the Clerk was directed to provide a copy to each Department. <br />This approval superceding the approval of the Board_ on March 22, 1971. <br />INDIANA BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY - CONSTRUCTION SITE <br />Carbon copy of a letter addressed to Doran, Manion, Boynton & Kamm, <br />Attorneys at Law, St. Joseph Bank Building, South Bend, Indiana, from <br />attorney Louis L. Anderson, 200 Law Building, South Bend, Indiana, in <br />reference to the closing of the alleys during the construction of the <br />Indiana Bell Telephone Company building, was read and ordered filed. <br />COMMUNICATION - ROSE STREET RESIDENTS <br />A letter from Mrs. Charles F. Lennon, 1613 N. 29th Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, expressing appreciation on behalf of residents in the neighbor- <br />hood for the recent installation of traffic regulations on Rose Street <br />was read and ordered filed. <br />COMPLAINT - WESTERN AVENUE SIDEWALKS <br />A letter of complaint regarding the debris on the sidewalks along Western <br />Avenue from Burnett C. Bauer, Western Avenue Business Council, 101 Mary - <br />crest Building, South Bend, Indiana, was read and ordered filed. This <br />will be added to the list for summer clean-up. <br />LAW STUDENT INTERN PROGRAM <br />Law Student John Crowe appeared before the Board to present a proposed <br />"law student intern program" which: <br />"will provide an opportunity for a study of local public and <br />private juvenile agencies through the participation of interns <br />in the activities of the agencies „ * „ and in addition,a study <br />will be made of different approaches to juvenile rehabilitation,. <br />The student attached to the Police Department will work under <br />the direction of Police personnel in any capacity deemed <br />appropriate and helpful. The program is funded by grants from <br />the Indiana Criminal Justice Agency. Local contact through <br />Charles Adkins, Director of Region I." <br />
