REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 3, 1973 <br />OPENING OF BIDS - JANITORIAL SERVICES, MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Janitorial Services for the year 1974 <br />for the Municipal Services Facility. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Niles Janitor Service and Supply <br />216 Philip Road <br />Niles, Michigan <br />Bid was signed by Kornel Borszei, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a certified check in the amount <br />of $1000.00 accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $22,500.00 <br />Alternate A - option to renew for 1975 at the base price for 1974 plus or <br />minus changes which might occur, plus a net additional sum not to exceed <br />five per cent. <br />Lloyd's Cleaning Service Bid was signed by Lloyd Kahlmorgan, <br />540 Clearview Place non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />South Bend, Indiana and a certified check in the amount <br />of $1185.60 accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $23,712.00 <br />Eder -Bailie Division Bid was signed by Roman Pajakowski, <br />d/b/a South Bend Window Cleaning Co. non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />South Bend, Indiana and a 10% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $20,256.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to Stanley M. <br />Przybylinski, manager of the Municipal Services Facility, for review and <br />recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS_ - FUEL REQUIREMENTS FOR 1974 <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for fuel requirements for 1974. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. There were no bids <br />received. The Clerk was directed to send the following letter: <br />Mr. H. L. Heinig, Supervisor <br />Product Pricing Department <br />Standard Oil Division, Amoco Oil Coinpany <br />P. 0. Box 2858 <br />Detroit, Michigan 48231 <br />Dear Mr. Heinig: <br />The Board of Public Works was to open bids this morning for fuel require- <br />ments for the City of South Bend for 1974. Unfortunately, those bids, <br />as required by State Law, were not received. <br />We are confident that your company will continue to supply the needs of <br />the City of South Bend for the coming year. We are anxious to enter into <br />a contract with your company on this matter. <br />Will you please contact Mr. Rollin E. Farrand, Chairman of this Board, <br />by telephone immediately upon receipt of this letter, sD that the necessary <br />arrangements can be accomplished. <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ Rollin E. Barcome <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board authorized Mr. Farrand and <br />Michael Vance, Fiscal Officer for the Department of Public Works, to negotiate <br />this matter with the Amoco Oil Company. <br />
