REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 22, 1973 <br />115 E. Wayne Street - 1st hour rate is being changed to 50t, Evening <br />Rate is being changed to 60t. All other rates remain the same. <br />306 S. Michigan Street - lst hour rate is being changed to 50�. Evening <br />rate is being changed to 60�. All other rates remain the same. <br />219 S. Main Street - 1st Hour rate is being changed to 50�. Each additional <br />hour will be 20�. Maximum all day rate will be $1.00. <br />Yours very truly, <br />s/ Harry Coffman <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred the letter to the <br />Legal Department for a determination as to whether the South Bend Parking Company <br />has the authority to change rates. The Board requested that the Legal Department <br />report their findings to the Board. <br />REQUEST FOR LEASE OR SALE OF OLD NO. 7 FIRE STATION <br />A request was received by the Board from William Geyer, 549 Calhoun Street, <br />Mishawaka, Indiana, to lease or purchase the Old No. 7 Fire Station, 708 Notre <br />Dame Avenue. This station is presently being used by ACTION, Inc. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the Board referred this request to Dr. John Krom- <br />kowski, Department of Human Resources, to investigate whether ACTION, Inc. plans <br />to continue leasing the -building and to make a report to the Board. If con- <br />tinued use by ACTION, Inc. is planned, the lease agreement should be updated. <br />INSPECTION REPORT - HIGHLAND ESTATES, SECTION 6 <br />Mr. Farrand requested that action on this matter be deferred until as -built plans <br />have been received, <br />APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />The Board received a request from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting that Stop <br />Signs be installed on Council Oak at Bendix Drive and Council Oak at Tomahawk <br />Trail. Increased volume of traffic warrants these installations. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the installations. <br />RECOMMENDATION ON HALLOWEEN PARTY <br />The Board received a recommendation from Clem Hazinski, Manager, Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting, that the request to block Edgewood and Hollywood Place for <br />a Halloween Party on October 31, 1973 could be approved provided the party is <br />held between the hours of 5:00 p.m, and 7:00 p.m. This was the decision of <br />Police Chief Robert Urban. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board <br />approved the recommendation. <br />REPORT ON INVESTIGATION OF SIGNALIZATION AT RIDGEDALE AND MIAMI <br />The following memorandum was received: <br />October 19, 1973 <br />To: Board of Public Works <br />From: Bureau of Traffic & Lighting, Clem Hazinski, Manager <br />Subject: Signalization at Ridgedale and Miami <br />A request to the Director of Public Works reference the possibility of <br />signalization of Ridgedale and Miami was referred to this Bureau for <br />investigation and recommendation. <br />Studies have been initiated and traffic counts indicate an increase <br />in volume on Miami due primarily to the Scottsdale Mall. Volume on <br />Ridgedale has not increased sufficiently at the present time to meet <br />the warrants for volume. It is anticipated that this will increase, <br />however, and then warrants will exist for a semi -actuated type of <br />si.gnalization. <br />
