3 15 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 22, 1973 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on <br />Monday, October 22, 1973 with all members present. Deputy City Attorney Jerry <br />Sakaguchi was also present. Minutes of the previous meetings were reviewed <br />and approved. <br />OFFERS TO PURCHASE FIRE ENGINES <br />The Board received offers to purchase fire apparatus offered for sale by the <br />City of South Bend and for which no previous bids were received as follows: <br />Donald Kaufman $473.00 for the 1957 Maxim Fire Engine <br />Box 166A, R. #1 <br />Edwardsburg, Mich. <br />Super Auto Salvage $1100.00 for the 1950 and 1957 Maxim Fire;:Englnes <br />3300 South Main St. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Chief Nagy was present and he recommended that the Board accept the offer of <br />Super Auto Salvage to purchase both pieces of'equipment for $1100. Upon motion <br />�.-.I made, seconded and carried, the Board awarded the sale of the two Fire Engines <br />r] to Super Auto Salvage. <br />Ifr <br />QAREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - ALLEY VACATION PETITION OF NORTHERN ELECTRIC <br />L.Z The Board received a favorable recommendation from the Area Plan Commission <br />concerning their investigation'of the petition of the Northern Electric Company <br />to vacate the east -west alley between Hill Street and St. Louis Avenue from <br />the east right-of-way line of Hill Street to the west right-of-way line of the <br />north -south alley between Colfax and Washington Streets situated between Lots <br />147 and 148 as shown on the Recorded Plat of the Town of Lowell, now part of <br />the City of South Bend. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition <br />was referred to the Bureau of Engineering for preparation of the Vacation <br />Resolution, <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - ALLEY VACATION PETITION OF CURTIS PRODUCTS <br />The Board received an -unfavorable recommendation from the Area Plan Commission <br />concerning their investigation of the petition of Curtis Products, Inc, for the <br />vacation of the north -south alley between Carroll and Columbia Streets from <br />Bronson Street south -to the north right-of-way line of the east -west alley south <br />of Bronson Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition was <br />referred to the Burea0l.of Engineering for preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - ALLEY VACATION PETITION OF ROLAND GOHEEN <br />The Board received a favorable recommendation from the Area Plan Commission <br />concerning their investigation of the petition of Roland Goheen to vacate the <br />northwest -southeast alley between George Avenue and Marietta Street, North <br />of the Cooper Bridge. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition was <br />referred to the Bureau of Engineering for preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR LIQUID CALCIUM CHLORIDE <br />The Board received a request from Donald Decker, Manager, Bureau of Streets, to <br />advertise for bids for liquid calcium chloride for snow and ice control. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Clerk was directed to advertise for bids <br />on October 26 and November 2 with bids to be received on November 5, 1973. <br />NOTIFICATION OF RATE CHANGES - SOUTH BEND PARKING COMPANY <br />The Board received the following letter: <br />Board of Public Works <br />County -City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />October 15, 1973 <br />We wish to advise you of the following rate changes: <br />
