30 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 2, 1973 <br />I concur that an ordinance would have an effect in reducing incidents of <br />trucks "hanging up" under the viaducts. All are signed adequately and the driver <br />of the truck has a responsibility of knowing the limitations of the rig he is <br />driving and to look for signage. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board ordered the recommendation <br />filed and referred to the Legal Department for research into a possible ordinance. <br />REPORT FROM BUREAU OF BUILDINGS RE: TENT SALE <br />The Board received the following recommendation: <br />June 26, 1973 <br />To: Board of Public Works <br />From: Bureau of Buildings and Permits <br />Subject: Tent Sale - Radio and Furniture Mart <br />It is recommended that the request of the Radio and Furniture Mart tc <br />hold a sale under tents for four (4) days in the middle of July, be <br />approved, subject to the usual requirements of the Fire Prevention Bureau. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />s/ Forrest R. West <br />Building Commissioner <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request for the <br />tent sale subject to requirements of the Fire Prevention Bureau. <br />CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE - NORTH AMERICAN SIGNS. SOUTH BEND NEON. INC. <br />The Board received a Certificate of Insurance from North American Signs, South <br />Bend Neon, Inc. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred the <br />Certificate to the Legal Department for examination and recommendation. <br />CONTRACTOR'S BOND CONTINUATION CERTIFICATES <br />The Board received Contractor's Bond Continuation Certificates for Jay A. <br />Kretchmer, Verlin V. Engle d/b/a Engle Construction Company, and Kenneth Story. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred the Continuation <br />Certificates to the Division of Engineering for investigation. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />The Street Light Outage report for the period of June 19, 1973 to June 27, 1973 <br />was received and ordered filed. <br />COMPLAINT REGARDING WEEDS ON NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY PROPERTY <br />Councilman Frank Horvath was present and called the attention of the Board to <br />the problem of high weeds at the National Guard Armory property on Kemble Avenue. <br />He said residents of Swygart Street have complained to him about this. Mr. Seitz <br />said that he would investigate this matter and contact the Commanding Officer of <br />the Armory. Councilman Horvath asked the Board about progress in the matter of <br />the motorcycle problem at the Armory and Mr. Roemer said that the Board of Public <br />Safety had written the Adjutant General in Indianapolis requesting that the <br />National Guard bulldoze the hill and fence the property. There has been no <br />reply to that letter. A letter was then directed from the Board of Public Works <br />to the Adjutant General in regard to this matter. <br />PARKING BAN ON MIAMI STREET <br />The Board received the following memo: <br />June 29, 1973 <br />To: Board of Public Works <br />From: Bureau of Traffic and Lighting - Clem Hazinski, Manager <br />Subject: Prohibition of parking on Miami Street <br />On March 22, 1973 a request was submitted to the Board of Works to <br />1 <br />
