299 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 2, 1973 <br />Upon the recommendation of James A. Roemer, City Attorney, the Board directed <br />the Clerk to send a letter to Derrickson & Sons in regard to this matter and <br />requesting a reply prior to the next Board meeting on July 9, 1973. <br />REQUEST FOR PARADE - SCO TTSDALE COMMUNITY CLUB <br />The Board received a request from the Scottsdale Community Club, Inc. for a 4th <br />of July Parade beginning at 11:00 a.m. Because the request was received so late, <br />Mr. Clem A. Hazinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, was notified of <br />the request and presented the following recommendation to the Board: <br />June 26, 1973 <br />To: Board of Public Works <br />From: Bureau of Traffic & Lighting - Clem Hazinski, Manager <br />Subject: Scottsdale bike and float parade <br />A request by Scottsdale residents to hold a bike and float parade in <br />the vicinity of the clubhouse at 4802 York Road using local streets was <br />referred to this Bureau for recommendation. <br />0 This event has been held previously with no adverse effects. The <br />iN Captain of the Police Traffic Division was contacted and he has no <br />A objection and has consented to send an officer for the event. <br />U <br />Approval is recommended provided rules of the Board concerning <br />indemnification is met. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved Mr. Hazinski's <br />recommendation to allow the parade. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT, 3700 BLOCK OF HURON STREET <br />The Board received a request from Mrs. Audrey Laskowski for a street light <br />mid -block between Wellington and Illinois Streets in the 3700 block of Huron <br />Street. The area is dark and Mrs. Laskowski reported there had been problems <br />recently with prowlers. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred <br />the request for a street light to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for investigation <br />and report. The Board directed that a copy of Mrs. Laskowski's-letter be sent to <br />the Board of Public Safety for action on the report of prowlers in the neighborhood. <br />REQUEST TO PARK VEHICLE ON MAIN STREET JULY 31, 1973 <br />The Board received a request from the Boy Scouts of America to park a tow vehicle <br />and travel trailer on Main Street in front of the Court House on the west side <br />of the street for three hours, from 11 a.m. till 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 31, <br />1973 in connection with the Boy Scouts National Jamboree. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board referred the request to Mr. Clem Hazinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for investigation and report. <br />REPORT FROM BUREAU OF TRAFFIC AND LIGHTING RE: PENN CENTRAL VIADUCT-MIAMI STREET <br />The Board received the following recommendation: <br />June 27, 1973 <br />To: Board of Public Works <br />From: Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Clem Hazinski, Manager <br />Subject: Trucks getting hung up under the viaduct on Miami Street <br />A letter from Mr. D. R. Meyers, president of Dana Cook Company, suggested <br />additional signage indicating viaduct height on Miami and also that an ordinance <br />be enacted. <br />In reference to signage, the approach to the viaduct on Miami and on L.W.E. <br />are well -signed and in strict conformance to the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control <br />Devices for the State of Indiana. Such signage indicating the new viaduct height <br />of 11 ft. 8 inches were in place the day before the accident which he mentioned. <br />Oversignage is not recommended. <br />
