2` <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 18, 1973 <br />June 15, 1973 <br />Board of Public Works <br />City of South Bend <br />County - City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />Dear Sirs; <br />Gates Chevrolet is planning a sales promotion activity Thursday, Friday, <br />and Saturday, June 28th., 29th., and 30th. We are requesting that we have <br />permission to close the 300 block of South Franklin Street so that we can dis- <br />play all of our Chevrolet model cars and trucks. We will supply an off - duty <br />city policeman for this activity. <br />Both ends of the 300 block of South Franklin Street are dead -ends. We <br />have done this on several occasions in the past and we do not feel that this <br />would in any way be a detriment to traffic flow. <br />�A-lot of planning and advanced publicity will have to be given to this <br />promotion. Gates <br />Gates Chevrolet Corp. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the above letter was referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for study and recommendation back to the Board. <br />REQUEST FOR TENT SALE - RADIO AND FURNITURE MART <br />The following letter was presented to the Board: <br />June 12, 1973 <br />Board of Works <br />City County Building <br />Main Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601, <br />Gentlemen: <br />We are interested in featuring a "Tent Sale" as part of our advertising <br />promotions. <br />This sale, with your approval, would be scheduled for about the middle <br />of July, 1973, probably about the 18 or 19th of July and would run for four <br />days. <br />We propose to erect, with the South Bend•Awning Company, two (2) 20' x 30' <br />tents on our parking lot which is adjacent to our building, and would not in- <br />terfere with traffic in any way. <br />Naturally, for security purposes, we would have a "special policeman" on <br />duty on a 24 hour basis for the duration of the sale. <br />As to the erection of these tents, we have been given to understand that <br />the South Bend Awning Company, has done this type of work for several other <br />businesses in this area, and fully guarantee their safety and durability. <br />We would greatly appreciate your authorization and approval of our proposal. <br />Very truly yqurs, <br />s/ Mr. Milton Meckler <br />General Merchandise Manager <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the above letter was referred to the <br />Bureau of Buildings for their study and recommendation back to the Board. <br />
