REGULAR MEETING MAY 21, 1973 To: Mr. Donald H. Germann, Director, St. Joseph County Civil Defense From: Milton M. Mitnick, State Director Indiana Department of Civil Defense Subject: Flood Insurance Date: May 16, 1973 The following political subdivisions comprise areas approved and eligible for flood insurance: Roseland South Bend St. Joseph County (unincorporated areas) I suggest that you urge your respective governmental officials that they contact the Federal Insurance Administrator in HUD, Washington, D.C. (202) 755-5581 immediately. Flood insurance can be made available to a community within 6 working days after HUD receives a completed application containing the required land use measure. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the letter was ordered filed. LETTER IN REFERENCE TO STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS . The Board had requested a report from Police Chief Robert J. Urban in regard to the low number of street light outage reports being filed. The following letter was received: May 14, 1973 Board of Public Safety County -City Building 227 W. Jefferson Boulevard South Bend, Indiana 46601 Attention: Mr. James V. Barcome Gentlemen: Reference street light outage reports, I have directed all officers to pay special attention to all street lights within the city and to report them to the front desk when they find that they are out. Results should be noticeable within the next week. All reports will be forwarded to the Clerk of the Board of Safety, daily. Respectfully, s/ Robert J. Urban Chief of Police Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the letter was ordered filed. AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - VACATION OF ALLEY NORTH OF WESTERN The Board received a favorable recommendation from the Area Plan Commission in regard to the proposed vacation of the alley North of Western Avenue, between Scott Street and Taylor Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition was sent to the Division of Engineering for the preparation of the Vacation Resolution. AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - VACATION OF EAST -WEST ALLEY SOUTH OF PRAIRIE The Board received a favorable recommendation from the Area Plan Commission in regard to the proposed vacation of the east -west alley south of Prairie Avenue. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition was sent to the Division of Engineering for the preparation of the Vacation Resolution.
