REGULAR MEETING MAY 21, 1973 <br />To: Mr. Donald H. Germann, Director, St. Joseph County Civil Defense <br />From: Milton M. Mitnick, State Director <br />Indiana Department of Civil Defense <br />Subject: Flood Insurance <br />Date: May 16, 1973 <br />The following political subdivisions comprise areas approved and eligible <br />for flood insurance: <br />Roseland <br />South Bend <br />St. Joseph County (unincorporated areas) <br />I suggest that you urge your respective governmental officials that they <br />contact the Federal Insurance Administrator in HUD, Washington, D.C. <br />(202) 755-5581 immediately. Flood insurance can be made available to a <br />community within 6 working days after HUD receives a completed application <br />containing the required land use measure. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the letter was ordered filed. <br />LETTER IN REFERENCE TO STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS . <br />The Board had requested a report from Police Chief Robert J. Urban in regard <br />to the low number of street light outage reports being filed. The following <br />letter was received: <br />May 14, 1973 <br />Board of Public Safety <br />County -City Building <br />227 W. Jefferson Boulevard <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />Attention: Mr. James V. Barcome <br />Gentlemen: <br />Reference street light outage reports, I have directed all officers <br />to pay special attention to all street lights within the city and to <br />report them to the front desk when they find that they are out. <br />Results should be noticeable within the next week. All reports <br />will be forwarded to the Clerk of the Board of Safety, daily. <br />Respectfully, <br />s/ Robert J. Urban <br />Chief of Police <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the letter was ordered filed. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - VACATION OF ALLEY NORTH OF WESTERN <br />The Board received a favorable recommendation from the Area Plan Commission in <br />regard to the proposed vacation of the alley North of Western Avenue, between <br />Scott Street and Taylor Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />petition was sent to the Division of Engineering for the preparation of the <br />Vacation Resolution. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - VACATION OF EAST -WEST ALLEY SOUTH OF PRAIRIE <br />The Board received a favorable recommendation from the Area Plan Commission in <br />regard to the proposed vacation of the east -west alley south of Prairie Avenue. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition was sent to the Division <br />of Engineering for the preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />
