REGULAR MEETING MAY 21, 1973 <br />RECOMMENDATION - WEST SIDE MEMORIAL DAY PARADE REQUEST <br />The Board received a recommendation from Mr. Clem Hazinski, Manager, Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting, that approval be given for the West Side Memorial Day <br />Parade on May 28, 1973 at 9:30 a.m. The City had been indemnified and the <br />Police Department has been notified. Upon mot,lon made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the recommendation and granted the parade request. <br />RECOMMENDATION - HAMMES COMMUNITY LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE REQUEST <br />The Board received a recommendation from Mr. Clem Hazinski, Manager, Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting, that approval be given for the Hammes Community <br />Little League Parade on Saturday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m. The route has been <br />approved and the Police Department has been notified. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board approved the recommendation and granted the parade request. <br />CONTRACTOR'S BOND FILED - GENE V. SCHLUETER AND CHARLES DICKEY <br />The Board received a Contractor's Bond from Gene V. Schlueter and Charles Dickey. <br />It was not on an approved City Bond Form and the Clerk was directed to notify <br />them that they should use the City Bond Form. <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS AND BID REQUEST FOR MIAMI AND IRE,LAND INTERSECTION <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved and signed plans for <br />the Miami -Ireland Road Intersection construction. William J. Richardson, P.E., <br />Director of Public Works, requested that bids be received for the Project, R & S <br />62, Miami and Ireland Intersection on June 4, 1973. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on May 25 and June 1, <br />1973 with bids to be received at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 1973. <br />REQUEST FOR TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ALLEY - 740 S. WALNUT STREET <br />The Board received the following letter: <br />May 18, 1973 <br />Board of Public Works <br />Civil City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />To the Honorable Board of Public Works: <br />The undersi.gned, Carl J. Reinke & Sons, Inc. wish to secure permission <br />from the Board to temporarily close an alley during the construction <br />period for.an Addition to the Sobieski Savings & Loan Association at <br />740 S. Walnut St., South Bend, Indiana. <br />The alley is that running East & West, situated at a point 1.32 ft. North <br />of Dunham St. on Walnut St. This alley, running to the East, 145'8" is <br />met with another cross alley as shown on the enclosed plot plan. It is <br />the desire of the undersigned to close off the access to the alley <br />starting at Walnut St., on the North side_of the Sobieski Savings & Loan <br />and running East approximately 60 ft. It is requested that we be allowed <br />to temporarily close this alley for a period of 60 days. <br />It is requested that permission be granted to close this alley for the <br />safety of the neighborhood during the period of construction and also to <br />permit access for constructing the Addition to the Sobieski building. <br />Yours truly, <br />s/ Harold G.
