REGULAR MEETING
MAY 7, 1973
2. That this Resolution shall immediately upon its adoption be
submitted to the Common Council of the City of South Bend
pursuant to Section 30A-2 of the Municipal Code of the City
of South Bend.
Adopted this 7th day of May, 1973
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
s/ William J. Richardson
President
s/ James R. Seitz
Member
s/ James V. Barcome
ATTEST:
s/ Patricia DeClercq
Clerk, Board of Public Works
REPORT ON REQUEST OF HOLINESS CHURCH OF GOD TO USE LOUDSPEAKER
The Board received a recommendation from Mr. James Roemer, City Attorney, that
the request made by the Holiness Church of God to use a loudspeaker when
conventions and meetings are held at the church to call the members together
should be denied. Although there might not be a violation of the Municipal
Code for the specific use requested, Mr. Roemer's letter stated that the
potential usage might be abused and complaints would probably arise. Upon
motion made, seconded and carried, the Board denied the request and requested
that Bishop Hopson be sent a letter advising him of the Board's decision
and telling him that any questions regarding the decision may be directed to
Mr. Roemer.
REPORT ON STANLEY CLARK SCHOOL REQUEST TO USE MICHIGAN STREET
The Board received the following recommendation:
May 4, 1973
To: Board of Works
From: Bureau of Traffic & Lighting - Clem Hazinski, Manager
Subject: Request to use part of Michigan Street
A request to use part of Michigan Street by the students at Stanley
Clark School for a video tape project was referred to this Bureau.
Michigan Street is now closed at Wyman's and the only problem would
be the presence of construction equipment and possibly the demolition
of the area in front of Wyman's Store.
Because of the heavy construction equipment that may be present, it
is recommended that permission be denied. However, if there is no
construction work in progress and there is police protection, the
project could be held on a Saturday or Sunday.
Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board denied the request but
directed that the students be notified that the Board would approve this request
if they can work out a schedule with Mr. Hazinski, according to his.recommendation
for a Saturday or Sunday if there is no construction work in progress and there
is police protection.
1
1
