REGULAR MEETING APRIL 2, 1973 REPORT ON PROPOSED CAR WASH AT MIAMI AND IRELAND ROADS The Board received the following reports in regard to a proposed car wash operation at a vacated Shell Station at the corner of Miami and Ireland Roads and ordered them filed: To: Board of Works March 28, 1973 From: Bureau of Traffic &Lighting - Clem Hazinski, Manager Subject: Proposed Car Wash - Miami and Ireland A letter to the Board of Works reference traffic ordinances prohibiting a car wash at the Shell Station at Miami and Ireland Road was referred to "this Bureau. Nothing can be found in the traffic ordinance that prohibits such a business. Section 21-89 of the Municipal Code requires one (1) parking space per two employees plus one (1) per owner or manager plus reservoir spaces equal to five (5) times the capacity of the laundry. Such requirements are met according to the plans. To: Board of Public Works March 27, 1973 From: Bureau of Buildings and Permits Subject: Proposed Car Wash, Corner Miami and Ireland Roads A car wash can legally be operated at this location. The Director, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, states that traffic ordinances do not prohibit the usage. The same situation obtains at the corner of Calvert, and Michigan Streets. West Building Commissioner PAYMENT REQUEST - WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT ADDITIONS A payment request in the amount of $4,005.17 from Clyde Williams & Associates for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Additions was received. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the payment request. APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES The Board received a request from Mr. Clem Hazinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, for the installation of three-way stop signs at Lathrop and Portage, Boland and Riverside Drive, and Boland and Portage, for a temporary detour only. These streets are being used as detour routes due to the Cleveland Road con- struction. The anticipated increase in traffic on these streets will require the stop signs in order to move traffic. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request. Mr. Hazinski requested approval for the installation of a two hour parking limit in the 1400 block of St. Joseph Street and the 100 block of East Haney at the New Apostolic Church to create turnover in parking for access for parishioners to services and school sessions. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request. Mr. Hazinski requested approval of No Parking signs in the 600 block of River Avenue, on the east side. This street is 20 feet wide and vehicles are parked across the sidewalk. Upon motion made, secondedand carried, the Board approved the request. 1 1 1
