0t <br />12/18/72 <br />CIVIL DEFENSE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN <br />Mr. Donald Germann, Civil Defense, appeared before the Board and <br />presented the St. Joseph County Emergency Operations Plan, to be <br />filed with the Board. <br />BUREAU OF BUILDINGS - SUB STANDARD DIVISION <br />Mr. Isaiah Steed, Sub -Standard Director, was present at the meeting and <br />matters pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />522 E. Ohio Street A letter was received from Don J. Barth, Executor of <br />the Estate, stating that the heirs have no desire to rehabilitate, and <br />they assume that the City will demolish the property and take title to it. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, Mr. Steed wars authorized to <br />seek bids for the demolition of the structure. <br />309 E. Pennsylvania Ave. Mr. Louis J. Poulos, 104 E. Broadway, appeared <br />before the Board and explained he wishes to rehabilitate the structure at <br />309 E. Pennsylvania Avenue. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board continued the matter until May 1, 1973. <br />Q412 E. Calvert Street Having been requested to appear before the Board <br />to show cause why the structure at 412 E. Calvert Street should not be <br />demolished, and Donald C. James and Gervae M. James not having appeared, <br />the Board now, upon motion made, seconded and carried, authorized Mr. <br />Steed to seek bids for demolition,of the structure. <br />149 E. Elder Mr. Harry Fox, 1307 Pyle Avenue, appeared before the Board <br />to state he is working on the structure at 149 E. Elder Street. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was continued for 3;weeks. <br />537 E. Haney Avenue This matter was referred back to the sub -standards <br />division for investigation and report. <br />302-3022 E. Calvert Street . <br />1912 S. Carroll Street Mr. Omer J. Wolfe has indicated hw has no <br />interest in the properties indicated above. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, Mr. Steed was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of <br />said properties. <br />217 E. Dubai! Avenue Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board <br />gave Mr. Steed permission to write Clarence D. & Eldora Whiter and ask <br />them to show cause why the structure at 217 E. Dubail Avenue should not <br />be demolished. <br />2221 Smith Street The matter of the sub -standard condition of the struc- <br />ture at 2221 Smith Street having been continued to this date, the follow- <br />ing bids are now opened and read: <br />O'Neal Trucking Company $549.00 <br />Machinery Supply Co. $537.00 <br />B. & J. Demolition-400.00 <br />Michiana Builders $480.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and, carried, the award was _made to B. & J. <br />Demolition on it's low bid of 000.00. <br />1026-1028 E. Indiana Avenue This building was demolished some time <br />ago but the excavation from the basement was not filled in. Mr. Steed <br />was authorized to seek bids for grading and filling the property where <br />the building was demolished. <br />731 Corby Blvd. Bids having been awarded for demolition of this struc- <br />ture more than 30 days ago, but the building not having been demolished, <br />the Clerk was instructed to write to the Department of Redevelopment asking <br />their co-operation in having the contract completed. <br />
