12/18/72 <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CITY VEHICLES <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Clerk was instructed to <br />advertise for bids for vehicles for the City with bids -to be returned <br />on January 2, 1973. <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS FOR SANITARY SEWERS FOR KENSINGTON FARMS SUB DIVISION <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved -the plans, <br />and specifications for the Sanitary Sewers for Kensington Farms Sub <br />Division. <br />APPROVAL OFINVOICE.'FO:R SOLLITT CONSTRUCTION COMPANY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved a payment of <br />$411,684.86 to the Sollitt Construction Company, Inc. for work on the <br />Waste Water Treatment Plant Additions. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15 - 12/18/72 <br />WHEREAS: on April 24, 1969, the Indiana Stream Pollution Control <br />Board required that the City of South Bend control pollu- <br />tion from combined sewers by July, 1977, and <br />WHEREAS: in February, 1970, a preliminary engineering report was <br />prepared on the separation of the combined sewers in the <br />Clyde Cree-k area by Clyde E. Williams and Associates, Inc., <br />and <br />WHEREAS:• this report set forth the feasibility of separating the <br />combined sewer system in this area, and <br />WHEREAS: this report also set forth a series of storm water retention <br />basins to alleviate flooding problems in this area, and <br />WHEREAS: a Cumulative Sewer Sinking and Building Fund has been estab- <br />lished by the South Bend Common Council for major sewer <br />construction, and , <br />WHEREAS: the Board of Public Works and Safety has authority under the <br />Acts of the General Assembly of 1905, Chapter 129 as amended, <br />to layout, design, order and contract for and execute the <br />construction, alteration and maintenance of all public drains <br />or sewers within such City which may be necessary to carry <br />off the drainage of such city and to erect, maintain and <br />operate works for the collection, treatment and disposal of <br />such sewage, and now <br />BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works and Safety finds it neces- <br />sary.for the public health, safety and welfare that the combined sewers be <br />separated and retention basins be constructed in the Clyde Creek area, <br />and that said Board hereby orders that •the necessary plans be prepared, <br />that easements and right-of-ways be acquired by gift•, purchase or <br />condemnation, that appropriations be sought, that bids be taken for <br />construction, that contracts be entered into, and that said construction <br />shall take place. <br />s/ Charles A.
