12/11/72 We would need the use of Central Fire Station for approximately four (4) hours on the day of December 22, 1972. I respectfully request your permission to allow members of this department and the Emergency Squad Training Institute to use our facilities and equipment in the production of these training aids. Bland, Fire Chief Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board approved the request to allow the Emergency Squad Training --Institute to use the facilities of the Central Fire Station in making their film. ANNUAL FIREMAN"S BALL The following letter was presented: December 8, 1.972 Board of Public Works and Safety U 13th Floor, County City Building L,> South Bend, Indiana Re: 1973 Annual Fireman's Ball Honorable Board Members: Attached hereto please find a copy of a letter which I received from the Co-chairmen of the 1973 Annual Fireman's Ball to be held on the 24th day of March, 1973. They have requested me to seek your permission to hold said event on the above date at the Athletic and Convocation Center on the Campus of the University of Notre Dame. Bland, Fire Chief Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request for hold the Fireman's Ball on March 24, 1973. POLICE DEPARTMENT SPECIAL POLICE BOND - EDWARD CHARLES HERMANN A bond for a Special Police Commission for Edward Charles Hermann was received by the Board. Upon motion made, seconded and carried the bond was referred to the Legal Department for investigation and report. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARD.DI.VISION Mr. Isaiah Steed, Sub -Standard Director, was present at the meeting and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. 2221 Smith Street Mr. Durwood Elliott, 1130 Cedar Street, appeared before the Board to state that he has a man working.on the house but does not have complete estimates of the cost of rehabilitation. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, this matter was continued for one week, and Mr. Durwood was told he need not return, but to let Mr. Steed know of the progress.
