94 <br />December 11, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened <br />at 9:30 A.M., on Monday, December 11, 1972. All members were <br />present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />The Board recognized Councilman Walter Kopczynski who was present <br />with one of his constitutents, Mrs. Rita Gorski, 5217 Floral Place. <br />Mrs. Gorski presented a petition containing twenty-two signatures <br />asking for street lights on Floral Place. Mr. Richardson told Mrs. <br />Gorski that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting was presenting a <br />recommendation for eighteen street lights at this meeting,and that <br />street lights on Floral Place were a part of the presentation. <br />GASOLINE BIDS <br />A letter was received from Stanley Przybylinski, Manager of the <br />Municipal Services Facility, recommending that the American Oil <br />Company be awarded the bid for gasoline and Diesel Fuel for the <br />City for 1973. However, upon motion made, seconded and carried <br />the matter was continued for one week. <br />AWARD OF BIDS ON CITY OWNED PROPERTY <br />Bids were awarded as follows: <br />1144 South Main Street The Bid of Ranita, Inc., was accepted for <br />a price of $2,500.00. Address is 2801 S. Michigan Street. <br />425 S. William The bid of G. Don Shaw,108 West Navarre Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, was accepted for $2,165.00 <br />713 North Hill Street The Bid of Builders United, 1530 Kemble <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indians was accepted for a price of $1,601.00. <br />424 9-4224 -South LaFayette Blvd. The bid received for the sale of <br />the property at 1219-1221 S. La fayette Blvd., did not meet the <br />bid requirements so there is no sale at this time. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT Chief Bland appeared before the Board and matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />The following letter was presented: <br />REQUEST TO USE FIRE FACILITIES <br />December 8, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety, <br />13th Floor, County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />RE: Rescue Film <br />Honorable Board Members: <br />Personnel of the South Bend Fire Department have worked closely with <br />a group of professional rescue experts from Normal, Illiniois, that <br />operate under the name of Emergency Squad Training Institute. <br />Automobile extrication and rescue work has become very technical <br />and sophisticated in recent years. The Emergency Squad Training <br />Institute has asked if the South Bend Fire Department would like <br />to participate in the making of a rescue film showing the use of <br />various tools, appliances and other related equipment, which is <br />used in this rescue activity. There would be no cost involved for <br />the South Bend'Fire Department. <br />
