I6 11/20/72 Appointed on March 1, 1949, Firefighter Zemylak has completed twenty-three (23) years of service on the South Bend Fire Department. H.is birth date is 6/2/20. Captain Zemylak has been an asset to the Fire Department for his entire twenty-three year tenure; however, in light of his request to retire and his years of service 1 approve his retirement Application. Bland, Fire Chief JRB/ss Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board accepted the recommendation of the Chief and granted the retirement, with regret, of Captain John J. Zemylak, as of November 16, 1972. The Clerk was instructed to write to Captain Zemylak expressing appreciation for his long years of service to the community. REQUEST TO USE FIRE STATIONS TO COLLECT COUPONS Mrs. Katheryn Van Laere November 9, 1972 810 So. Kaley St. South Bend, Indiana 46619 Dear Mrs. Noble: Ph. 288 3565 Between now and April .1, 1973 the HAMMES COMMUNITY LITTLE LEAGUE, is conducting a MAJOR FUND RAISING effort in our Community to build a Senior League Field. As one of our projects, we are saving Betty Crocker Coupons in order to help us finance some of the cost. We need ONE MILLION COUPONS. As you can see that is a lot of coupons. We have only 14 months to complete our project. Four radio stations said they would help us but, we need a place for the people to take them to. My purpose. in writing is to ask you if you would be kind enough in g.iving your permission to have the people bring their coupons to the Fire Stations of South Bend.
