IN <br />10/30/72 <br />REAPPOINTMENT OF JOHN R. HAWLEY TO POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />the recommendation of Chief Seals and reappointed John R. Hawley to the <br />Police Department as of October 16, 1972. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Mr. Isaiah Steed, Sub. -Standards Director, was present and matters per- <br />taining to his department were discussed. <br />410 Pennsylvania Avenue MR. Preston Gray, 410 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, <br />South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board as requested. Mr. Steed <br />informed the Board that the structure -Dinned by Mr. Gray, and in -which <br />he resides, was in sub -standard condition. Mr. Gray informed the <br />Board that he was not working and did not have the money to make the <br />necessary repairs. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the. <br />Board instructed Mr. Gray to return to the Board meeting in one week <br />and tell the Board that he has removed the fuel oil drums from his <br />back porch; demolished the accessory building, which is in a state of <br />col -lapse and clean up the junk that litters the yard. <br />1122 Bissell -Street Mr.. Rex Masterman of Homemaker'.s Finance Company <br />V <br />informed the Board that the Benjamins are in bankruptcy and that <br />they are in the process of sending to Mr. Masterman an order of, <br />abandonment of their interest in the matter. A sale of the property <br />is pending till they get the abandonment order. The matter was con- <br />tinued for one week and the Homemaker's Finance is to present some <br />evidence of the sale of the property. <br />2221 Smith Street Upon motion made, seconded and carried, Mr. Steed <br />was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the structure at <br />2221 Smith Street. <br />202 Pennsylvania Upon motion made, seconded and.carried, Mr. Steed <br />was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the structure at <br />202 Pennsylvania. <br />105 Carlisle Street Mr. Steed was directed to .send a letter to the <br />owners of the structure at 105 Carlisle Street directing them to <br />appear before the Board to show cause why the building should not <br />be demolished. <br />BIDS AWARDED <br />227 North O'Brien This being the date set for receiving bids for the <br />demolition of the structure at 227 North O'Brien Street, the following <br />bids were opened and read: Non -collusion affidavits were in proper order. <br />O'Neal Trucking Company $875.00 <br />B & J Demolition 900.00 <br />Michiana Builders 690.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the award was made to Michiana <br />Builders on its low bid of $690.00 <br />1910 Linden A venue This being the date:set for receiving bids for the <br />demolition of the structure at 1910 Linden Avenue, the following bids <br />were opened and read: Non -Collusion affidavits were in proper order. <br />O'Neal Trucking Company $535.00 <br />Michiana Builders 645.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the award was made to O'Neal <br />Trucking Company on its low bid of $535.00. <br />A <br />
