10/10/72 <br />The purpose of this meeting serves the matter of keeping abreast <br />in various areas of concern applicable to our Computor Program <br />and is funded within the program grant for the computerization <br />so involved. <br />Respectfully, <br />s/ Robert Seals <br />Chief of Police <br />RWS/mm <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board granted the <br />request to send Sergeant Knepper to the Seminar. <br />REQUEST TO SENT CAPTAIN ALBERT POELVOORDE TO DRUGS SEMINAR <br />The Chief presented the following letter: <br />October 5, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Approval is respectfully requested to allow Captain Albert <br />Poelvoorde, commander of the Vice -Narcotics -Intelligence <br />Comples to attend a Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Siminar <br />sponsored by the Hooks Drugs; Inc., and to be held on Thursday, <br />October 26, 1972, at 1:00 p.m. in Indianapolis, Indiana. <br />This seminar, attended in the past, has proved of great value <br />in our labors in the area of drug abuse, and this particular <br />activity will result in the receipt by this department of some <br />valuable narcotic identification aids. <br />There is no cost except that of travel to be sustained by <br />this department and travel funds, of course, are included in <br />this area of our budget. - <br />Respectfully yours, <br />s/ Robert W. Seals <br />Chief of Police <br />RWS:mm <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board granted the <br />request to send Captain Poelvoorde to the seminar. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Mr. Isaiah Steed, Sub -Standards Director, was present and the <br />following matters pertaining to his department were discussed: <br />717-721 East Wenger Street Mr. Steed recommended that this <br />building be demolished, and upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried he was authorized to seek bids for the demolition. <br />625 North Walnut Street Mr. Marvin Groves, 1223 West Thomas Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board as requested to <br />show cause why the structure at 625 North Walnut Street should <br />not be demolished. Mr. Groves informed the Board that there were <br />people living in the house which was badly in need of.repair, and <br />they had not paid rent in some time. He wants to fix the house <br />up, but will not do so as long as the people are in the house. <br />They are supposed to be relocated. The matter was continued for <br />two weeks, and the Clerk was instructed to write to the relocation <br />department of the Redevelopment Commission requesting them to <br />expedite the matter. <br />1 <br />
