10/2/72 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board accepted <br />Captain Niedbalski's resignation with regret and instructed the Clerk <br />to write to Mr. Niedbalski expressing their appreciation of his many <br />years of service to the community. <br />PROMOTION OF CORPORAL NORBERT HECKLINSK1 <br />The chief presented the following letter: <br />September 27, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: - <br />Your approval for the promotion of Corporal Norbert Hecklinski <br />e-# to the rank of Sergeant and assignment to duty as School Safety <br />Education Officer is respectfully requested. <br />Corporal Hecklinski was appointed to this department on date of <br />January 16, 1961, and has served as acting School Safety Education <br />Officer since his assisngment to releave retiring Captain Daniel <br />Niedbalski and we find such service both satisfactory and promising. <br />Effective date for this request is recommended as October 1, 1972. <br />Respectfully, <br />s/ Robert W. Seals <br />Ch i_ef of Police <br />RWS:mm <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />accepted the Chief's recommendation and promoted Corporal Norbert <br />Hecklinski to the rank of Sergeant as of October 1, 1972. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION <br />Mr. Isaiah Steed, Sub -Standard Director, was present and matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />514 S. Walnut Street Joseph R. Vargo, Esther Pasmaq, C. J. Davis <br />and Irene Vargo Roberts having been requested to appear before the <br />Board to show cause why the structure at 514 South Walnut Street <br />should not be demolished, and Donald Roberts having appeared on be- <br />half of Irene Vargo Roberts, and stating they do not intend putting <br />any more money in the structure, upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the Board directed Mr. Steed to seek bids for the demolition <br />of the structure. <br />702-S°â€¢Marletta Street Robert H. Walter, 610 Main Street, Rochester, <br />Indiana having been requested to appear before the Board to show cause <br />why the structure at 702 South Marietta Street should not be demol- <br />ished, and Mr. Walter not having appeared, the Board, upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, authorized Mr. Steed to seek bids for <br />the demolition of the property. <br />1109 South Fellows Street Howard H. and Gladys Sherrill, R. R. #2 <br />Three Oaks, Michigan and Cora Wi;.11iams, 419 E. Keasey Street having <br />been requested, -to ;appear before the Board -to show cause why the <br />structure at 1109 South Fellows Street should not be demolished <br />and none of them having appeared, the Board, upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, authorized Mr. Steed to seek bids for the demolition <br />of the property. <br />
