One of the selected sites is the former
Robert William Maurice Estate along Fellows Street, North of Walter
Street. Your City Engineer, Mr. Richardson, asked that we write
concering our position in this matter.
Our firm purchased the above property with the understanding that the
site was fully improved by the South Bend Board of Public Works in
their agreement with the Estate, and that the land was in buildable
condition. Letter from your Board dated March 30, 1970, states that
there will be no future assessments concerning improvements.
Since entering into the purchase agreement, we find there is no water
service along Fellows Street and that the street has to be widened.
We will pay the cost of curb and gutter, sidewalks, and additional sewer
taps, and respectfully request the City of South Bend to provide the
necessary water main and street work at no cost to the development.
Your earliest consideration in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely yours,
s/ Pail C. Luthringer
Vice -President
CC: W. J. Richardson
R. J. Richardson
M. A. Battles
K. H.
