342 REGULAR 14EETING APRIL 21, 1975 REQUEST AND RECOMMENDATION FOR TENT SALE, RADIO FURNITURE MART The Board received a report from Forrest R. West that he had received and reviewed a request from the Radio and Furniture Mart to hold a Tent Sale beginning on May 3 and extending until June 1, 1975. Mr. West recommended that the request be approved, provided that the installation comply with the Building Code and with all provisions of the Fire Prevention Bureau.. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the tent sale request, subject to the stipulations in Mr. West's recommendation. REQUESTS FOR STREET LIGHTS The Board received requests from Mr. I. Minkow for installation of street lights in the 900 Block of South Marietta Street and the 500 Block of East Broadway. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the requests were referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. REQUESTS TO SELL POPPIES APPROVED The Board received requests from the River Park Unit 303 of the American Legion Auxiliary and from American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 284 to.sell poppies on the City sidewalks on May 16 and 17, 1975. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the requests were approved. REQUEST FOR SIDEWALK REPAIR The Board received a letter from Councilman Roger Parent attaching a complaint he received about the condition of sidewalks on Leeper Avenue. Mr. Farrand noted that the repair of curbs. and sidewalks is the responsibility of the property owner. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was referred to the Bureau of Design and Administration for investigation. MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE APPROVED The Board received a request from the Maurice Matthys Little League to hold a parade on Saturday, May 17, 1975. A parade route was enclosed. Upon motion.,made, seconded and carried, the request was approved, subject to the filing of indemnity insurance and the coordination of the event by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail. RECOMMENDATION ON PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY The Department of Public Works reported to the Board that they had reviewed the petition of the St. Joseph's Cemetery Association to vacate the north -south alley between Walnut and Maple Streets and have no objection to the vacation, subject to the existing utility easements. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board filed the recommendation and referred the petition to the Area Plan Commission for their review and recommendation. REPORT ON PARKING PROBLEM AT 2955 McKinley A complaint regarding parking violations at 2955 McKinley Avenue was received by Forrest West. The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. reviewed the complaint and submitted the following report to the Board: TO: BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS FROM: BUREAU OF TRAFFIC AND LIGHTING, CLEM HAZINSKI, MANAGER Action was taken reference this violation (and nuisance) in 1974 by Forest West with the Legal Department.
