1 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 21, 1975 <br />of South Bend., The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice <br />in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found <br />to be sufficient. No remonstrators having appeared and no written <br />remonstrances having been filed, upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the Assessment Roll showing no net damages and no net <br />benefits was approved as adopted and said resolution is in all <br />things ratified and confirmed and said.proceedings closed. <br />HEARING ON TAXI LICENSE DENIAL - EARL HAUN <br />Mr. Robert Rigney, Jr., Attorney, was present representing Mr. <br />Earl Haun who was also present. Mr. Haun's application for a <br />taxi license was turned down by the City Controller and he•requested <br />a hearing before the Board. Mr. Farrand noted that the application <br />filled out by Mr. Haun and the report from Chief John Walsh of the <br />Bureau of Police differ. Mr. Rigney agreed that this was so but <br />said there was a misunderstanding regarding this. Mr. Farrand said <br />if the Board was given information regarding the discrepance in the <br />application and the report, they would take the matter under advisement. <br />Mr. Rigney said he would furnish this information to the Board in <br />writing. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was <br />tabled until Mr. Rigney provides the information to the Board. <br />RECOMMENDATION TO AWARD VEHICLE BIDS <br />Bids for 43 vehicles for the Police Department, 2 vans for the <br />Police Department and 1 truck for the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />were opened on April 7, 1975 and taken under advisement. Mr. <br />Farrand made a motion that the low bid of Freemarn- Spicer_ b:e accepted for 43 <br />vehicles for the Police Department at a total net bid price of <br />$108,716.10. The motion was seconded and carried. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, action on the bid for the 2 vans for the Bureau <br />of Police was tabled. The bid for the 3/4 ton pick-up truck for the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting was, upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, awarded to the Gates Chevrolet Company on the low and only bid <br />of $5278.53. <br />PROJECT CS7, OLIVE STREET -SANITARY SEWER RECONSTRUCTION -CONTRACT,. <br />PERFORMANCE BOND AND CHANGE ORDER APPROVED <br />The contract for the reconstruction of the Olive Street Sanitary <br />Sewers, Project CS`7, with H. DeWulf Mechanical Contractor, was <br />submitted to the Board. This bid was awarded March 10 and the money <br />has now been appropriated and approved. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the contract was approved, as was the Performance Bond. <br />Change Order No. 1 was submitted to the Board. Mr. Farrand explained <br />that this was a procedural change in the plans, regarding Bid Items <br />5A and 6A. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Change <br />Order was approved. <br />INQUIRY REGARDING FIRE STATION NO. 11 <br />Bluie Marks was present and advised the Board that he is interested <br />in making an offer to purchase Fire Station No. 11 at 2222 Lincoln <br />Way West. Mr. Farrand explained to Mr. Marks that the Board offered <br />this property for sale at an offering price based on the appraisals <br />of the property. No bids were received. He said that if someone <br />indicates to the Board that the would submit a reasonable bid on the <br />property, it would be advertised for sale again for cash or on credit <br />terms. If no bids equal to the offering price are received, the Board <br />could request the Common Council's approval to negotiate the sale of <br />the property. Mr. Marks said he would be willing to submit to the <br />Board a written offer to purchase the property. He then submitted to <br />the Board, in writing, his offer for the property, which was not made <br />public. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board authorized <br />the Clerk to advertise Fire,Station No. 11, 2222 Lincolnway West, <br />for sale for cash or on credit, with sealed bids to be received on <br />May 19, 1975. <br />
