U REGULAR MEETING MARCH 3, 1975' recommended favorably by a unanimous vote of the Area Plan Commission., with Mr. Farrand abstaining. There have been no remonstrances or objections filed against the petition. Mr. Bancroft and Mr. Hoffman then displayed a.map and photographs of the area. Mr. Hoffman indicated that they plan to open Columbia Street at a point where it is not now open, because of the creek, so that the people involved will have a way to get in and out. They are not making dead end streets out of any'of'these streets. Mr. & Mrs. C.,0. Madden, 320 E. Donald Street, were present and asked if the street would be paved. Mr. Hoffman said there is a 20 foot dedicated'street and they will maintain it to match existing streets, probably with a gravel surface. Mr. Decker, Street Commissioner, was present and said his department had planned to hard surface the street but were not aware of the plans for this area. He asked when the work would be completed. Mr. Hoffman said they hope to begin construction in Marchand be done in the summer.Mr. Decker said, if this timetable was followed, he would have a hard surface on the street this year. Mr. Hoffman said there would be a fence installed at the property lines and there would be no access to these streets from the parking lot. © Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Dunn, 302 E. Fox Street, were present but they noted that their question had already been answered. There was no one else present to speak on the vacation. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board ratified and confirmed Vacation Resolution No. W 3409, 1975 and the portions of Donald and Fox Streets from Columbia East to Fellowa and the first east -west alley south of Bowman, between Fellows and Rush and the north -south alley between Fellows and Push Streets from Bowman to the aforesaid east -west alley and a portion of Push Street south from Bowman to the first east -west alley are now vacated.' The City Engineer is directed to prepare an Assessment Roll showing the award of damages and the assessment of benefits to the surrounding properties. PUBLIC HEARING -VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3410, 1975 This being the date set, hearing was held on Vacation Resolution No. 3410, 1975 for the vacation of the east -west alley between Marion and Madison Street, running east from the first north -south alley east of Michigan Street to the vacated St. Joseph Street, City of South Bend. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be:.sufficient. Mr. John Obenchain, Attorney for the petitioners, the Milton Home, was present. Mr. Obenchain said this is a stip of land which was taken off Lot 132 and which is landlocked by reason of the new McDonald's Restaurant. CHANGE ORDERS APPROVED - FIREI.STATION NO. 4 Change Orders 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 for the construction of Fire Station No. 4 were submitted'to the Board by E. R. Bauer: The claims for the Change Orders have been approved by the Board. The Change Orders make the revised amount of the contract $206,385,,00. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Change Orders were approved.
