REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 3, 19.75 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. <br />on Monday, I -larch 3, 1975 with Mr. Farrand and Mr. Barcome present, <br />Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present.. Minutes of <br />the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - RECONSTRUCTION OF OLIVE STREET SEWER <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the reconstruction of <br />the Olive Street Sewer. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Marion Hamilton Bid was signed by Marion Hamilton•, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond accompanied <br />Base Bid - $287,777.97 the bid. <br />H. DeWulf Ilech. Contractor <br />Base Bid - $273,126.70 <br />Alternate - Vitrified Clay Pipe - <br />Bid was signed by Henry DeWulf, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the <br />bid. <br />$246,511.70 <br />Bradberry Brothers, Inc. Bid was signed by Earl Bradberry, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5;o bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Base Bid - $331,590.20 <br />Alternate - Fibreglass Pipe - $313,887.70 <br />Alternate - VitrifiedClayPipe - $307,885.20 <br />Woodruff & Sons <br />Base Bid - $283,024.40 <br />Bid was signed by Gordon Booz, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid Bond accompanied <br />the bid. <br />Alternate - Vitrified Clay Pipe - $241,975.10 <br />Dye Plumbing & Heating Co. Bid was signed by Charles T. Dye, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond accompanied <br />the bid. <br />Base Bid - $475,808.43 <br />Alternate - Vitrified Clay Pipe - $468,964.43 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the <br />Bureau of Design and Administration for review and recommendation. <br />Mr. Farrand noted that PZr. Wells, Manager, Bureau of Design and <br />Administration, would be available to answer any questions the bidders <br />may have. <br />PUBLIC HEAPING - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3409, 1975 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on Vacation Resolution No. <br />3409, 1975 for the vacation of portions of Donald and Fox Streets, from <br />Columbia East to Fellows and the first east -west alley south of <br />Bowman, between Fellows and Push and the north -south alley between <br />Fellows and Push Streets from Bowman to the aforesaid east -west alley <br />and a portion of Push Street south from Bowman to the first east -west <br />alley, City of South Bend. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />Bruce Bancroft, Attorney for the petitioner, the South Bend Community <br />School Corporation, and Herman Hoffman, Architect for the School <br />Corporation, were present.
