REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY lOz 1975 <br />WHEREAS, the Indiana State Hig"hv� y Corftfss lon proposes to reconstruct <br />the above noted segment of an existing State Highway and certain <br />portions of the new facility may be on a new location removed from the <br />present roadway. In such event, the State Highway Commission may <br />designate that those portions of the existing roadway shall no longer <br />be considered as a State Highway, and the same shall be conveyed <br />to local jurisdiction; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indiana State Highway Commission, as an established <br />policy and practice will place such portions of roadway, which are <br />to be conveyed to local control, in a reasonable state of <br />maintenance compatible with anticipated usage as determined by <br />the State Highway Commission; now <br />THEREFORE, the City of South Bend does hereby agree to accept the <br />conveyance of portions of the existing roadway within the <br />geographical limits of our jurisdiction into our maintained system <br />of streets or roads upon completion of the construction of the <br />new state highway facility, and notification of formal conveyance <br />of the Indiana State Highway Commission. <br />Dated this loth day of February, 1975. <br />s/ Rollin E. Barcome <br />REQUEST FOR BOOTH ON RIVER BEND PLAZA REFERRED <br />The Board received a request from Mrs. Loretta Parkhill to set <br />up a booth on River Bend Plaza to obtain signatures protesting <br />the recent Indiana & Michigan Electric Company rate increase. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred the <br />request to the River Bend Plaza Advisory Committee for their <br />recommendation. <br />RECOPt2ENDATION RE: WORKERS SOLIDARITY DAY PARADE <br />A request for a parade on February 22 sponsored by the Coalition <br />for Workers Solidarity Day had been referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Legal Department for review. Kathleen Cekanski, <br />Deputy City Attorney, sent the Board a report recommending that the <br />request could be approved, provided the group 'submits a General <br />Certificate of Insurance, naming the City of South Bend as an <br />additional insured and that they use the route approved by the <br />Traffic Engineer. A recommendation from Clem Hazinski, Manager of <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, advised the Board that the <br />parade had been reviewed with Captain Sweitzer of the Police Traffic <br />Detail and approval was recommended. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board approved the parade, subject to submission <br />of the Certificate of Insurance naming the City of South Bend as <br />an additional insured and using the route approved. <br />CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE FILED <br />The Board received Certificates of Insurance from the Morse Electric <br />Company and the Rieth-Riley Construction Company. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the Certificates were ordered filed. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage Report for the period of January 23 through <br />February 4 was received. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the report was ordered filed. <br />f <br />
