REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 4, 1974 ,REPORT RE PETITION FOR TRAFFIC;.,SIGNAL AT SCOTT AND WESTERN The Board received a report from Clem Hazinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting regarding the petition for installation of a traffic signal at Scott Street and Western Avenue. Mr. Hazinski informed the Board that he has forwarded the request to the State Highway Commission, since this is State Road 2 and is under their jurisdiction. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the report was filed. REPORT RE: TRAFFIC CONTROL REQUESTS OF COUNCILMAN KOPCZYNSKI Clem Hazinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, submitted a report to the Board on traffic control requests made by Councilman Walter Kopczynski, Mr. Hazinski noted that the request for a traffic signal at Sample and Falcon is under study and traffic counts are being made. This study includes the intersection of Sheridan and Sample, also The request for four-way stop at Fort and Walnut is also under study and a report will be made to the Board when that study is completed. RECOMMENDATION - MARCH OF DIMES WALKATHON The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reviewed the request of the March of Dimes to hold a Walkathon on April 26, 1974 and they recommend approval, subject to the following conditions: 1. A walk route map be submitted 2. Direction personnel be posted at and Notre Dame and Boland Drive 3. Improved clean up -along the walk Ironwood and Rockne, Napoleon route. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the . Walkaton, subject to .the conditions outlined in the recommendation. REPORT RE: REQUEST FOR STOP SIGN AT 28TH AND VINE Clem Hazinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, made a report to the Board on the petition of Clarence Osborn for a four- way stop at 28th and Vine Streets. A study of the area indicates that installation of the stop sign is not warranted. Mr. Hazinski recommended that the Police Department Traffic Division have beat cars patrol the area when school children are crossing. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the report was ordered filed and the Clerk is to notify Mr. Osborn of the report made on his petition. REQUESTS FOR STREET LIGHTS The Board received requests from Councilman Parent for the installa- tion of street lights on Vernerlee Lane and on Garland. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the requests were referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended the installation of the following stop signs: On Greenleaf, Redbud and Cedarwood at their intersection with Clearview; on Parkwood and Woodhill at their intersection with Idlewood; on Cedarwood, Redbud and Greenleaf at their intersection with Summitt;,and on Clearview at Washington. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the installtions were approved. BONDS APPROVED Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, recommended approval of the following bonds: Excavation Bond for Albert Spromberg to 11/30/75 Contractor's Bond for McIntyre and Johnes to 1/l/76 Excavation Bond for McIntyre and Jones to l/l/76 1 1 1 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bonds were approved to the dates listed.
