REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 4, 1974 <br />,REPORT RE PETITION FOR TRAFFIC;.,SIGNAL AT SCOTT AND WESTERN <br />The Board received a report from Clem Hazinski, Manager of the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting regarding the petition for installation <br />of a traffic signal at Scott Street and Western Avenue. Mr. <br />Hazinski informed the Board that he has forwarded the request to <br />the State Highway Commission, since this is State Road 2 and is <br />under their jurisdiction. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the report was filed. <br />REPORT RE: TRAFFIC CONTROL REQUESTS OF COUNCILMAN KOPCZYNSKI <br />Clem Hazinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />submitted a report to the Board on traffic control requests made <br />by Councilman Walter Kopczynski, Mr. Hazinski noted that the <br />request for a traffic signal at Sample and Falcon is under study and <br />traffic counts are being made. This study includes the intersection <br />of Sheridan and Sample, also The request for four-way stop at <br />Fort and Walnut is also under study and a report will be made to <br />the Board when that study is completed. <br />RECOMMENDATION - MARCH OF DIMES WALKATHON <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reviewed the request of the <br />March of Dimes to hold a Walkathon on April 26, 1974 and they <br />recommend approval, subject to the following conditions: <br />1. A walk route map be submitted <br />2. Direction personnel be posted at <br />and Notre Dame and Boland Drive <br />3. Improved clean up -along the walk <br />Ironwood and Rockne, Napoleon <br />route. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the . <br />Walkaton, subject to .the conditions outlined in the recommendation. <br />REPORT RE: REQUEST FOR STOP SIGN AT 28TH AND VINE <br />Clem Hazinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, made <br />a report to the Board on the petition of Clarence Osborn for a four- <br />way stop at 28th and Vine Streets. A study of the area indicates <br />that installation of the stop sign is not warranted. Mr. Hazinski <br />recommended that the Police Department Traffic Division have beat <br />cars patrol the area when school children are crossing. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the report was ordered filed and the Clerk <br />is to notify Mr. Osborn of the report made on his petition. <br />REQUESTS FOR STREET LIGHTS <br />The Board received requests from Councilman Parent for the installa- <br />tion of street lights on Vernerlee Lane and on Garland. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the requests were referred to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended the installation of <br />the following stop signs: On Greenleaf, Redbud and Cedarwood at <br />their intersection with Clearview; on Parkwood and Woodhill at <br />their intersection with Idlewood; on Cedarwood, Redbud and Greenleaf <br />at their intersection with Summitt;,and on Clearview at Washington. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the installtions were <br />approved. <br />BONDS APPROVED <br />Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, recommended approval of the <br />following bonds: <br />Excavation Bond for Albert Spromberg to 11/30/75 <br />Contractor's Bond for McIntyre and Johnes to 1/l/76 <br />Excavation Bond for McIntyre and Jones to l/l/76 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bonds were approved to <br />the dates listed. <br />
