REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 30, 1974 <br />STATEMENT OF POLICY REGARDING VEHICL•ES�ON.:RIVER BEND PLAZA <br />The Board received a request from Louis Wilcox, Director of River <br />Bend Plaza asking for a statement of policy for use of motorized <br />vehicles on River Bend Plaza. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the Board affirmed the following policy: "No vehicles <br />other than police, fire and River Bend Plaza maintenance vehicles or <br />ambulances, shall be allowed on the Plaza without the express <br />written authority and approval of the Board of Public Works". <br />APPROVAL OF AVALON GROTTO PARADE <br />The Board received a recommendation from the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting that they had reviewed the parade request of the Avalon <br />Grotto for Saturday, October 3 at 3:30 p.m., assembling at Monroe <br />and Lafayette and marching north to Madison, and the parade could <br />be approved. The Police Department concurred with the recommendation. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the parade was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF CLOSING OF ALLEY BEHIND MASONIC TEMPLE <br />The Board received a request from the Avalon Grotto that the alley <br />behind the Masonic Temple, between Madison and Marion, be closed <br />from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on October 25. The Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting reviewed the request and recommended approval. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the closing <br />of the alley at the time stated. <br />REQUEST FOR TENT SALE APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Michiana Imports, Inc. to hold <br />a Tent Sale from October 10 through 17, 1974 at their parking lot <br />at 317 West Wayne Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the request, subject to Building Department <br />approval. <br />APPROVAL TO USE FIRE STATIONS FOR VOTING <br />The Board received a request from W. Joseph Doran, Chairman of the <br />St. Joseph County Democratic Central Committee, to use Fire <br />Stations 2, 7, 4, 9, 3, 6, 5 and 10 for voting on General Election <br />Day, November 5, 1974. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the request and directed that Chief Bland be <br />notified of the approval. <br />RECOMMENDATION ON PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY <br />The Board received a letter from Rollin E. Farrand, Director of <br />Public Works, in regard to a vacation petition filed by St. <br />Joseph Hospital for the vacation of the alley south of Madison <br />Street, between St. Peter Street and Notre Dame Avenue. Mr. <br />Farrand recommended that the owners of Lot Nos. 207, 208, 209, 213, <br />214 and 215 be notified of any hearings on this alley vacation. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the recommendation was <br />approved, and the petition was referred to the Area Plan Commission <br />for review and recommendation. . <br />LETTER FROM SOLLITT CONSTRUCTION CO. RE: FILLING OF RACEWAY <br />Mr. Farrand explained to the Board that the dewatering process in <br />connection with the filling of the race will be done by the City, <br />with the use of a crane and an operator from the Sollitt Construction <br />Company. A letter was submitted from Sollitt Construction Company <br />quoting rates for equipment and operators. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the letter was ordered filed. <br />E <br />
