164 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 5, 1974 <br />the Youth Advocacy Program suggest an alternative street. <br />Saundra Murray and Lorraine Wilson, who were present to represent <br />the Youth Advocacy Program, said they had requested that Washington <br />Street be closed because this is the area they have been painting <br />and cleaning. They then requested that the Board close Maple Street <br />from Washington Street to Thomas Street for the festival. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the closing <br />of Maple Street, from Washington Street to Thomas Street, from <br />12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11. <br />CHANGE ORDER APPROVED TOPICS T60'00'(11) MICHIGAN-MAIN SIGNALIZATION <br />A Change Order in Topics Project T6000(11) the Michigan Street -Main <br />Street Signalization Project, was presented to the Board. The Change <br />Order was in the amount of $2,466.90. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Change Order was approved. <br />RECOMMENDATION FOR ACCEPTANCE - TOPICS T6000(11) <br />A recommendation to the Indiana State Highway Commission for <br />acceptance of the Topics Project T6000(11), the Michigan Street - <br />Main Street Signalization Project, was presented to the Board for <br />approval and submission to the Indiana State Highway Commission. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the recommendation was <br />approved by the Board. <br />CLOSING OF HARRIS STREET RAILROAD CROSSING <br />Clem Hazinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported to <br />the Board that he had received a notice from the Public Service <br />Commission that the Harris Street crossing of the Grand Trunk Western <br />Railroad has been ordered closed. Mr. Hazinski recommended that <br />when the railroad has officially closed the crossing, his Department <br />be directed to install reflectorized guardrails. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board filed the recommendation and Mr. <br />Hazinski is to notify the Board when the crossing is closed. <br />CITY POLICY REGARDING LICENSING OF STANDS <br />The Board received a recommendation from James A. Roemer regarding <br />the procedure for licensing of stands on River Bend Plaza, outlining <br />the steps to be followed. Mr. Roemer recommended that the same <br />procedure be adopted by the Park Department. There was a discussion <br />regarding the procedures. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the recommendation was tabled until such time as a permanent policy <br />for operations on the Plaza has been established. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED EAST MONROE STREET <br />The Board received a recommendation from Clem Hazinski that a <br />request to hold a block party in the 1300 and 1400 blocks of East <br />Monroe Street had been investigated and could be approved. Liability <br />Insurance has been obtained for the event. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board approved the Block Party. <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Patrick Gallagher, Director of <br />the Department of Public Safety, to advertise for bids for the sale <br />of abandoned vehicles. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the request and directed the Clerk to advertise <br />on August 9 and 16, with bids to be received on August 19 at 9:30 a.m. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHTS - RIVERSIDE MANOR <br />The Board received a request from five residents of Riverside Manor <br />for the installation of street lights on Darden Road and Glenview. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was referred to <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />F____J <br />
