REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 28, 1974 <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTED RE: LINCOLNWAY WEST SEWER <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the following resolution was <br />adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 11, 1974 <br />WHEREAS, About 1938, a trunk sewer was installed on Lincoln Way West, <br />from Bendix Drive to the present City Limits, and <br />WHEREAS, the long range plans of the City of South Bend envision <br />annexation of an area to the west of the termination <br />point of this sewer, and <br />WHEREAS, the depth of this sewer could reasonably and practically <br />allow extension of sewer service at least as far west as <br />Country Club Drive and Edison Road, and <br />WHEREAS, a need has now arisen to provide sewer service to an area <br />south and west of Elwood Avenue and the City Limits, and <br />WHEREAS, a corporation has offered to pay a reasonable share of the <br />cost of a sewer if it were to be extended to Elwood Avenue, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has authority under the Acts of <br />the General Assembly of 1905, Chapter 129 as amended, to layout, <br />design, order and contract for and execute the construction, <br />alteration and maintenance of all public drains or sewers within <br />such city and all drains and sewers without such city and within <br />four (4) miles thereof which may be necessary to carry off the <br />drainage of such city and to erect, maintain and operate works <br />for the collection, treatment and disposal of sewage, now <br />BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works finds it necessary for <br />the public health, safety and welfare that this trunk sewer <br />on Lincolnway West be extended to a point located approximately <br />at Elwood Avenue and the present City Limits, and that said <br />Board hereby orders that the necessary plans be prepared, that <br />necessary easements and right-of-ways be acquired by gift, purchase <br />or condemnation, that appropriations be sought, that bids be <br />taken for construction, that contracts be entered into, and <br />that said construction shall take place. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />s/ Rollin E. Barcome <br />ATTEST: <br />sJ Patricia DeClercq <br />DATED THIS 28TH DAY OF MAY, 1974. <br />REQUEST TO SELL BUREAU OF FIRE TRACTOR APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Chief Joseph V. Nagy, Bureau of Fire, <br />to advertise for bids to sell a 1953 Seagrave Cab and Chassis. Chief <br />Nagy said the equipment should not be sold for less than $650.00. <br />Mr. Barcome said this equipment was replaced by the new tractor just <br />purchased. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved <br />the request and the Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for the <br />sale of the tractor with bids to be received at 9:30 a.m. on June 10. <br />
