REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 11, 1976 <br />BID REJECTED - BODY ARMOR, -POLICE DEPARTMENT, NEW BIDS SOUGHT <br />The Board received a recommendation from Chief Michael Borkowski <br />that the bid received from Second Chance for body armor be <br />rejected as not meeting specifications. Chief Borkowski's recom- <br />mendation detailed the testing made on.a sample submitted by <br />Second Chance and indicated that it failed to meet test <br />requirements. Chief Terry was present and said if new bids are <br />sought, a bid within the specifications might be received. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the Board rejected the bid from Second Chance and directed <br />the Clerk to re -advertise for bids, with sealed bids to be received <br />on November 1, 1976. <br />FILING OF ASSESSMENT ROLL, VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3432 <br />Rollin E. Farrand, Civil City Engineer, files with the Board an <br />Assessment Poll for Vacation Resolution No. 3432 for the vacation <br />of the north -south alley west of Main Street, running south of <br />Calvert Street, from the south right-of-way line of Calvert Street <br />south to the south line of Lot 22 in Stover and Witmer's Addition. <br />Also being the north line of said alley vacated under Resolution <br />No. 3396. The following lots may be injuriously or.beneficially <br />affected by such vacation: Lot: 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 of Stover <br />and Witmer's Addition. The Board finds that each of said lots <br />C� have been damaged in the amount of $0.00 and benefited in the <br />s-� amount of $0.00. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board filed the Assessment Roll and <br />set Monday, November 15 at 9:30 a.m. as the time and the Board of <br />Works hearing room as the place for a public hearing on the <br />assessment roll. <br />REQUEST TO BLOCK CAROLINE STREET ON NOVEMBER 6 RECEIVED <br />The Board received a request from Mr. & Mrs. Roger J. Longley to <br />block Caroline Street between Ewing and Altgeld for a Block Party <br />on November 6, from noon until midnight. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and <br />recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR,PZOTORCADE FOR SENATOR HARTKE RECEIVED <br />The Board received a request from Kenneth P. Fedder, Area Coordinator <br />for Senator Vance Hartke, asking for permission to conduct a motorcade <br />on Portage Avenue, Wilbur Street and Lincolnway West on Thursday, <br />October 15 at approximately 10:00 a.m. A suggested route was <br />submitted. In view of the fact that time is short, Mr. Farrand <br />made a motion that the request be referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting for review and recommendation with a report to be <br />received as soon as possible. <br />MR. BRUNNER LEAVES MEETING <br />Mr. Brunner left the meeting at 11:05 a.m. <br />REPORT - PETITION TO VACATE NORTH-SOUT11 ALLEY SOUTH OF LAWTON STREET <br />The Bureau of Design and Administration reported to the Board that <br />the petition of Overhill Manufacturing Company to vacate the north - <br />south alley south of Lawton Street to the east -west alley running <br />between Meade and Fremont Street, and have no objection to the <br />vacation subject to utility easements. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was filed <br />and the petition was referred to the Area Plan Commission for their <br />review and a public hearing. <br />
